I planted a weeping willow tree on the creek bank at my house about 4 years ago. It was supposed to grow 10 feet per year. It is maybe a grand total of 12 feet. Any suggestions?
suggestions on what exactly? how to make it grow taller or how to prune it down some? it sounds like it's doing just fine to me. 12 feet in 4 years is more than I would expect. my grandma's willow tree was much smaller than that & she grew it for more years than I can remember. I'm almost 51 & it was in her yard longer than that. it probably grew to about 7 foot high is all, so yours is doing better than that. not sure what you're asking about.

Who told you that tree was supposed to grow 10 feet per year? When conditions are very good my "Salix discolor". ***** willow, will send up shoots that grow 6 to 8 feet in one year, but those often die during the winter. "Salix" species do grow fast, but the only places I have seen that atate these tress will grow that much in a year are questionable sources of information.

I planted a weeping willow out by the front pond 2 years ago. It has grown maybe 6 feet in two years. It's gets lots of water and full sun. We have very sandy soil so I'm sure I need to add more compost, but I'm satisfied so far.
