I heard about a grass that stays short on one of the gardening shows but can't find anything abou it. I've done web searches - no luck. Am I dreaming?
Here's the problem, We have a beautiful flagstone path, but most of the grouncover didn't make it throught the winter. Don't want to replant groundcover. The path is next to the lawn so we will transplant any groundcover that survived and plant grass between the stone instead. Thanks...Fran
Have you tried putting into your browser...."short growing grasses" and follow the yellow brick road.
On golf greens in cold zones we get used to Bent Grass--but that, while it does grow short, needs much maintenance. Any grass that grows as short as you wish to use it...between rocks on a path, will surely be compromised by sun, traffic, salt, rain, sleet, snow, ice and so on and so forth. Groundcovers - some are tough and can take hard abuse. You might give thought to trying a different groundcover.
I redid the web search and found lowgrow.com....I sent them an email to see if their product will work for my area. thanks for the info -- I guess I just wasn't putting in the right search words....
One of the major lawn companies was working on developing a genetically engineered grass that would not require any mowing and our federal government was about to allow them to grow some in the open with no protection against possible contamination (that has happened with the other GE crops all over the world) of existing grasses. However, the judges of the circuit court in that area were smart enough to see potential problems and issued a cease and dissist order, so the development of that is now on hold, unti lthat company can find some judges that will allow them to comntaminate our world even more.
The sign of a good gardener is not a green thumb, it is brown knees.
