I just noticed that the base of one of my Arborvitae shrubs has some white on it. I think that white on the base of the trunk of the shrub might be a 'fungus'. I think it is due to the heavy rains we have had the last few weeks (& especially last weekend).
I googled 'Arborvitae fungus' and lots of other things and could not come up with any remedy for it. Is there anything I can do about it? The leaves look gorgeous and perfectly healthy, but I am concerned about the white on the bottom, possibly fungus? Can I use anything to control it, like a fungicide of some sort?

You could cut out a piece and take it to the local nursery for IDing.
If you do use a fungicide make sure the directions mention its explicit use on cedars.
Some, like dormant oil, should not ever be sprayed on evergreens--it can change the color of spruce and pine. So read the 'exceptions' carefully.
There are zillions of fungicides on the shelves that will mention its use for arborvitae and probably mention dozens of insects and diseases it is effective on.

The only way to treat these problems is through the use of appropriate fungicide. Some fungicides have to be delivered directly into the roots while others have to be sprayed on branches and leaves. Ensure that you use the fungicide properly and regularly as directed.
