I am going to add a new portion of concrete to my patio and I want to "stamp" a pattern in it. First what is it called and what do I need to do it with? Anyone out there know what I'm trying to get at?

Last I heard, it was called stamped concrete. But I don't remember what the tool is called that you use to do it. Call a concrete company & ask! "The soil is the source of life, creativity, culture and real independence." David Ben-Gurion

jana, I did my own stamped concrete. I used a decorative iron piece (the ones they have for your front door step) When they laid the concrete, I tied two strings on the iron piece and lowered it down then pressed on it. I did it in the corners and the center. It came out great. Not sure if you've already had your concrete put down. "In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt"

this is how they stamped our patio. I included a sample of how it can turn out.
