My neighbors have gone on vacation and asked me to water their new-ish sod while they're gone. It's a prudent move considering that the heat index is hovering near 100 degrees for the next week. However, these neighbors have been very lackadaisical about yard maintenance. Their sod, while it used to be fescue, is now pretty much nutgrass and emerging crabgrass with a few blades of fescue left.
It's gonna be VERY difficult for me to: a) stand there watering weed filled sod that will slowly but surely spread toward MY lawn; and b) resist spraying weed killer on their lawn in their absence.
I've seen sod piled up at HD and Lowes, and while I love those stores, I'd never buy sod there.
I had a sod farm professionally re-sod my entire yard (about 200x50) -- conditioned the top layer of soil, etc. and no weeds. Of course after spending money on it I watered it like crazy. I was not about to have it die!
You're a good neighbor so I'm sure you'll do the right thing!
It appears that we have someone advertising, for free, posting when they should be paying for the use of this site. I would not spend money on "weed" killers for a neighbors lawn and certainly would not spend my time hand removing :"weeds" from a neighbors lawn.
The sign of a good gardener is not a green thumb, it is brown knees.
