My deck floor and some other areas need a good cleaning and then restained. I have used oxy in the past but I think it needs something stronger. Now I have to wait for the pollen to go away -- my deck is pea-green!! yuk

I just use a scrub brush and water to get algae off.

If it needs more than that, my husband drags out the pressure washer and that does the trick.

Fran, at this time most garden supply outlets---whoever they are, advertise a power washer.
There are various power units for particularly difficult usage.
They usually cost as well in the $200.00 range...some a lot less, some a lot more.

Power washers do a creditable job cleaning dirt and debris from decks---whether wood or not.
The only concern is if you direct the power water at a too harsh degree--it can literally destroy some woods. It will, however, remove stains, paint, dirt, oil....et al...in a short time.
Some have an attachment where you can instill soap into the stream.
You can either buy the unit or rent one.
Maybe a neighbor has one and will lend it to you.

I use a mild water and bleach solution and use a push broom to clean it off. For stubborn spots, I use a little elbow grease and a hand held scrubber.

It's a dirty job, no doubt about it.

We used the Olympic deck cleaner on our wood fence before staining. I was pretty impressed with the job it did.

We used the first one, the Premium Deck Cleaner. Hubby used a spray bottle of some sort to apply it. Yeah, easy to use and you don't have to scrub or anything!
