Hello! I am from Moscow, Russia. I decided to write, because I have a question, concerning wall structure and paitings. Please, see attached images. As you can see, the walls look like "not finished", ragged and so on. Frankly speaking. I do not know, how that effect can be achieved... Should my wall my ragged or specific painting is a key point? I would be happy to receive any related information, because I would like to make a fence in that style, but it is unusual for Russia. Thank you in advance. Artem. This message has been edited. Your pictures appear to be 3 different houses. Which are you talking about?

These are all stucco homes and the color variation can be part of the stucco finish or it could be applied as paint. I suspect it is part of the stucco finish. If you Google "trompe l'oeil painting techniques" you should be able to find information about what you want to accomplish. In English it means "deceive the eye" https://www.google.com/search?...nt=psy-ab&q=trompe+l'oeil+painting+techniques&oq=trompe+l'oeil+pai&aq=2&aqi=g3g-K1&aql=&gs_l=serp.1.2.0l3j0i30.4969.11028.3.14422.6.5.1.0.0.0.82.376.5.5.0...0.0.V_Go-AWLecI&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=43ca00f83d9a1a7e&biw=2304&bih=1077 General Disclaimer Any advice given here is general in nature and is not necessarily valid for your given area. If in doubt check with your local codes enforcement department for what is required when doing electrical, plumbing or structural work on your house. Permits may or may not be required in your area and home owners may not be able to DIY some tasks. I have no way of knowing if you have the skills needed to complete the tasks you are asking about, when in doubt seek professional assistance. My advice may be worth exactly what you pay me for it. :-) For the record I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I would like to thank both of you for your messages! Yes, those are stucco homes. I also have stucco home, but of course, we tried to make walls very smooth. On those photos walls are also smooth, but a special techique was used. So, walls look like as if they are old, rough with light and darker areas. I am not sure, that i'll be able to find someone, who can make that. Whether really unskilled workers... ))))

It seems to me that the effect in the photos may be achieved with glazing and color washing, at least this is easily done on interior walls. Might check with a local Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore paint store. Show them photos of what you would like it to look like (these will work) and they can give you directions and products for exterior or even give you a name of a local house painter that could do it for you.

He's in Russia, I'm not sure Sherwin Williams is there. (edited for clarity, added dropped word)This message has been edited. OOOPPPS, You are right, Sparky! Never mind on that paint store suggestion. (just for fun I did look on Google for SW in Russia, and found the paints available at Architectural Products (Русский) ) But it does really look like a glazing technique, to me. So hopefully the faux or Trompe l'oeil link Sparky posted can help. This message has been edited. Last edited by: conrad,
