why do all these shows have outdoor furniture with fabric and cushsions . One rain storm will ruin them all . Not a good idea . I like metal furniture more practical.
Many of the fabrics (and fillings) are meant to be outside. One used to be limited to awning type fabrics but no more. Things have changed a lot in the last few years.
The good thing is, there are lots of choices (thought the current things available may be somewhat limited by the current fads) so everyone can be happy. You like metal and while I think that is okay I prefer wood(teak) or wicker.

We have outside metal furniture that stays outside all year, snow and all. I believe it is powder coated rather than painted. The table top appears to be molded epoxy. But we do have to bring in the cushions when it gets wet outside. The fabric can take it but not the foam pads. We tried a covered plastic bin for the cushions but that didn't last; the plastic warped and leaked. So we bring the cushions inside now.

We keep our plastic wicker table and chairs under a roof on the lanaii. The cushions never get wet but the table now 8 years old is starting to have the wicker desolve and break and the cushions are getting a bit dirty even though I wipe them down once a week. We are trying to get another 2-3 years out of it.
