To change from a shingle roof to a metal one, would it be very hard to do and how much additional vs just replacing the shingle roof? Help and thoughts please.

Here is a good website with information about metal roofs.
Metal Roofs It lists the advantages and drawbacks to a metal roof and lists the various kinds of metal roofs available. Costs range anywhere from $150-$600 a square (100 square feet of roof) so it is on the high end of cost. It is lighter than tile roofing, and will outlast you. On the link I posted he says you can reroof over an existing roof, but IMHO it is always best to strip the roof and start with a clean roof deck. "Pain is temporary, quitting lasts for ever." Do you mind that they look bad if you don't keep them washed? Metal I'm referring to.
Of course shingle roofs look good till they have stuff growing on them. Composition IMO is best. |
