Last fall a contractor painted my front porch. When I went out there this spring, I was shocked to see extensive bare areas that looked like the paint had just flaked off. I felt the new paint and it felt rough and chalky. I contacted the contractor and expressed my displeasure. He said that it was likely due to applying the paint in cold weather. It's my contention that he either used cheap paint or interior paint for the job. Who is more correct in this situation, or could either be the cause?
paint is not an acceptable coating for conc,,, a concrete coating would be longer lasting,,, doubtful its cheap paint as the carrier's usually the same for all paints,,, its the pigment 'grind' that results in higher quality product,,, he's probably more correcter in this instance
,,, but even i can't get 5gal of wtr into a 4gal bucket
my guess is operator error....Could be bad prep - too cold, not clean, cheap paint, wrong paint...Lots of possibilities for the failure. I have painted concrete before - used SW products...while i do like Lowes interior paint - their exterior paint is AWFUL!!!! I painted my front wooden porch 3 summers w/ the SW porch paint(3 coats) and it's still holding up ok...
