there was a house some people wanted to enhance the outside look. On tv it was said to be just like the other houses. they had to get permission to make changes to the design. They ended up putting up red shutters and a white pickett fence.

Nevertheless, the item i'm talking about is like a porch. It was added to the entrance of the door. It is not really intended to be a porch but it does provide something to stand under while waiting ot get into the house. It has rails. If it wasn't for the size it would be like any unscreened porch but this is much smaller.

Can you please help me identify this object?

    thanks!

Don't know what they call them now, but we used to call them front stoops.

"Front Stoop" I haven't heard that in a long time. I'm 28. To remember that, it makes me wonder what your age is.

I wish i could figure of what this is called. I thought they said port--- something.

    Thanks!

    porte-cochere

canopy extending out from a building entrance to shelter those getting in and out of vehicles

Of course, in today's TV world it could have been used in another context.

The show was Curb Appeal and it was a front porch.

    Thanks Toots!

That's exactly it! I've looked all over the internet and at Lowes and Home Depot and can't find anything remanufactured. Evidently there is a brand name that is Portico also. What i saw on HGTV looked as if it could be put together easily.

I haven't found the exact one i saw yesterday but here are some links to what i was talking about.

Nevertheless they did give me some instructions. I've been sick all this weekend so i guess when i get a chance later this week I'll take a look.
    Thanks TOOTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
