I posted this in General Decorating, where I usually hang out, but maybe the subject fits better here?
DH caulked around the new door early this morning, apparently too early - I went to see how long before I could paint it, and right there in the application directions it says DO NOT PAINT.
Question 1: Is there anything we can do other than scraping it off so we can paint the trim?
Question 2: If we have to scrape it off, would it be best to do it right away, with rain predicted this afternoon, or wait 'til after it rains and the caulk cures?

...But maybe if we are surrounded in beauty
Someday we will become what we see...

It is probably silicone based, and I sure would attempt removal right away. Get all you can off by pulling and scraping. You may be able to cover any residue left, with a good exterior paintable caulking?
