I planning on a new roof for my home and wondered if amyone knew if it would increase the value of my home in resale if I did a metal roof as compared to the traditional shingle roof. Are the new meatl roofs better? Any imput would be appreciated...

With some homeowner insurance companies you can get a discount for metal roofs due to less fire risk among other things. Metal has a longer "life" and as far as value it is increasingly becoming more popular. Also, IRS gave a discount last year to those who installed metal.

It really depends upon your area. It probably would not add to the value in most areas but buyers would not question when the shingles needed to be replaced. You really have to check locally. If you do go with a metal roof be very careful about the color you choose.
