We have grey stucco house and the exterior front door is a brown reddish mahagony that is painted black. Can we paint over the black with a brown red paint to achieve the stained look or should we strip the door and expose the natural grain of the door? The house faces southeast. Want to do something that requires little upkeep and that's why I'm cosidering paint. Thanks
Brown paint always makes me think of fake "Tudor" houses from the 70's. Natural wood may fade facing southeast, but if I were picking a paint color I don't think I would pick brown, unless it was more in the gray family like B.M. # HC-85. JMHO
Ok. Thanks for the advice
I'd consider a burgundy exterior latex for the front door vs a stain.
Consider the color and intensity of the hue if it faces south east. Some paints, particularly those with red tones fade faster. Also if it is a deep color it may become to dark to touch comfortably.
Take a px of your house and cut out the door. Put different paint chips behind it to get an idea of how it would look.
Great idea! Thankd
