I have a 1940s bungalow in need of some curb appeal. I check the HGTV site often to see if I can apply for the show but they don't come to Indianapolis, Indiana. I would love to hire a designer like they have on the show to help me make decisions that will enhance the style of my home rather than detract from it. Who are the designers on "Curb Appeal?" How would I find a designer like that in my area?

Good question. I always wonder that also.
I have hired a "decorator" before. But did not think muc h of her.

Is there a home in your area that you drive by that has curb appeal up the wazoo? I stopped by the home I always admired and found out she designed/did it all herself. She was flattered and offered to come give me a few ideas. You might find a professional designer that way.
She suggested everything from a new front door color, adding a dormer window, to exactly what to plant for my soil/light conditions.

Many nurseries and garden centers offer design service for a small fee. The design can be developed so that the landscaping is completed in stages as budget allows. There are many good books about landscape design.
