I hope I'm in the right place because I need some help. We are looking to carpet our bedrooms in our fully-tiled house. However, we have a couple of small dogs that sometimes have "accidents." Has anyone had any experience with that carpet padding that repels liquids? Does the water barrier really keep the padding dry? I'm more afraid of odor than spots! Thanks for any help you can give me.

There is carpet padding that comes with a moisture barrier layer that you could see if you go to a good carpet showroom - but I am not sure that would be your best solution as the urine would still soak into the carpet.
Have you considered using large room sized area rugs set over your tile? That way you could send them out for cleaning a couple times a year. |

Shaw carries a moisture resistant padding. I sat in on a demo today, and they even poured hot coffee on it. No saturation whatsoever! After sitting through a very long seminar, I have now forgoten the name of the product, but I seem to remember that it was "Triple -----". The other word also started with a T, I just son't recal it right now. They showed us the pad again at the end of the seminar, and it had not soaked through. However, the problem would be that it does force the liquid back up in to the carpet fibers, and that's where it dries. So, unless you're on top of the stain clean up, it could present more of a problem in the long run, creating multiple stain spots in the carpet.
