I didn't want to post this on the cleaning board. I know alot of you have hardwood floors.

I just got new dark hardwood floors installed. I thought I could keep up using a microfiber dust mop. But then had to get out the broom and dustpan to get it off the floor. So I went out and bought a dustbuster......what a pain the the pa-tootie.

SO...........does anyone use an electric broom on your hardwood floors? I'm thinking it's got to be alot easier than this.

What do you do? What do you think? If you use one, can anyone recommend any specific kind?

what is the actual flooring material, and IF you know the name of the company, they should have the cleaner information for you. Whomever you bought it from should be able to help you.

My sister-in-law uses a large Bona mop and cleaner on her dark wood floors.

I use the Swiffer floor dust cloths because the dust clings to them--no more getting out a broom/dust pan. The dirt clings to the cloths.

I've not found microfiber cloths or mops or towels to meet my cleaning demands. I know others love 'em.

The Swiffer is not a microfiber cloth, as such. Don't know what it is, but they work much better.

Just have to know where to get the refills. Yep, money on refills. That, or go through what you're doing....

Years ago, when we had beautiful walnut stained wood parquet floors, we had to use a Swiffer daily and vacuum 1-2X a week...and we did not have any children or shedding animals underfoot. Every speck of dust was visible.

That's why we no longer have dark wood floors!

I am waiting to hear how you like your new vacuum. I will need one for my house, I cannot use our vacuum so this could be a way I can do an in-between clean up! My DH has to vacuum now, and he LOVES this idea!

Wouldn't trade my dark floors for anything else but boy are they work!
I swiffer throughout the day. Run the vacuum on tile setting every 2-3 days. When it needs a good cleaning I use Bona hardwood floor cleaner.

I have the very same dirt de vil and dark hardwood floors...it works okay. It's very loud! I don't like cleaning the filter or dumping the dust cup, either. After you use it, you'll still want to "dust" with a Swiffer or something (around the edges, under furniture)...it ***** up the big stuff.

For those of you who use 'swiffers' types of cloths, do you have to do this each and every day?

That's probably a situational question. We have 2 dogs, etc. so it was a daily thing--usually twice a day--morning, and right before The Husband got home from work.

I have dark wood floors and have no problem but I don't have any pets. I use a microfiber dustmop once or twice a week and the swiffer wetjet once a week.

OK....so I bought it today and I LOVE it!

I'm short and so is this...it's cute, it's lightweight, fits in a really small space in the closet, and it worked great!!!
I didn't think it was loud at all.

I got mine at Home Depot and it was less than 20.00...

I'm glad you found a solution. I still "swifter" mine (only with microfiber Bona mop heads because they're washable) and downstairs vacuum every day. But that's because I have a very sheddy corgi. And my floors aren't dark (my furniture is and I realized how dark shows dust so when we had them refinished we did them in a light color as they had been originally) either so it doesn't show AS BAD!

Oh and once a week (unless they get dirty because of mud or snow and then I'll do it as they get dirty) I use a steam mop on them.
