My background is in running school libraries - before funding was cut...

Our community had the annual garage sale yesterday. I usually have one big find each year - last year's was the Eames wire outdoor chair.

Here is this year's

.

Your own card catalog-how exciting. Love the finish on it. How do you plan to use it?

I do not have a place for it, but I will figure something out! I just could not leave it behind. I have drawers without a cabinet in my sewing room. The finish is in good condition except for the top - a pretty big mess as previous owner set drinks on it + there is tape residue on front left & a darkened area on front right. Suggestions for a product I should use just to give a light cleaning on all surfaces??

Love it! I can think of about a hundred possibilities for this wonderful, unique piece. Lucky you!

Let us know what you decide to do with it.... I'd love to see it in the context of your home!

Very nice piece...but the rod down the middle of each drawer will make it's usefulness questionable? I've always been a closet librarian...I was a library "helper" when kiddies were in elementary and loved it!

I too am a retired school librarian. When I automated two libraries I gave away two double decker card catalogs. One person did not want the rods in the drawers -- I still use them after all these years to stake house plants, hold the garden gates open, and label garden plants, etc.

One friend uses her's to organize her threads for her embroidery projects. I've also used individual drawers as mini flower boxes.

Nice find.

Gorgeous! I always wanted one to use for plant/flower/veg seeds when DH and I used to have a 'for fun' greenhouse.

Even if the drawers aren't as functional as you would like, it is a wonderful stand alone piece of furniture. I would clean it up and use it as a hall table or a small buffet in a kitchen eating area.

I have been using piecemeal drawers from other sources for many years. The rods do not bother me at all. It is a rather imposing 42" tall - that is tall to me when it comes to finding a place for it. We'll see....

Thanks for your comments!

That would you use to clean it? TIA
