Basement help NEEDED!!! Sign In/Join
posted
Hello everyone!
I'm new to the HGTV group Smile We are moving into our dream home this Friday but the ONLY downfall is that it is a rental so we are limited on our renovation possibilities. My husband and I are wanting to create a "man-cave" or Football room in the basement area, however, it isn't a finished basement. Do any of you have any suggestions on what we could do to create an ideal space without doing anything permanent??? SOS! Please help!

Gives a whole new meaning to the term "man-cave" doesn't it? Is the floor at least concrete? Any windows, partial walls?

Welcome and congrats on your new dwelling. Indeed, more details on what you have to work w/ in this unfinished space like walls, ceiling, lighting, flooring would be helpful.

If your DH is handy, he might construct free standing particians or use room dividers to give the illusion of a private space. Room dividers can be fashioned from old doors or shutters. Optionally, hanging fabric from tension wire can create soft walls for a tent-like feel. A rug or carpet squares will afford the cozy feel while buffering some noise. Comfortable seating is a must for tv viewing. Hang posters of sports teams/players that will help evoke the feel w/o breaking the bank. Favorite team logo items ( a throw, a rug, pillows, lamps, etc.) can also be purchased to bring color and spirit there.

BTW, I hope the basement is dry and isn't musty smelling. Address those issues if they exist.

Thank you SO much for your responses!!! I'm going to the house tomorrow to get some measurements, colors, etc...so once I have those, I will re-post to give you a better idea of what we're working with. You all are AWESOME!!!
