Hi. I got some great advice regarding my living room. Now I've decided to redo the dining room and kitchen along with living room. It's kind of one big room. I've decided against the cottage look. To drap and white and was looking at some french country fabric for dining room and kitchen. Just not surenhownto incorporate this into the living room.

Any suggestions. I really love red and yellow but will they clash with my white sofa. Also I've decided to remove the wallpaper. Also any suggestions on how to give the dining room and kitchen more of a country french look.

Thanks for any advice. My biggest problem if figuring out what fabrics go together.

What I love about French Country, it can be fussy, frilly, and elegant or it can be simple, rustic & casual, or combination of both. Ballard Designs is great for inspiration.

French Country is not only one look but there are several variations so I suggest you look at a lot of pictures online to find the look you want.

I really think that your kitchen/dining room area already evokes a very charming Country French look. I think the Waverly rooster print is perfect for your window and red and yellow will go fine with the white sofa.

I agree that it already has a beautiful French country look. I think that once you remove the wallpaper and add your red/yellow fabrics it will be even more fabulous!

What kind of advice did you get regarding your living room that can't be applied to your kitchen and dining room? The French look should flow throughout your house effortlessly. So, I would not rely on a 'pattern or print' of a fabric to say 'French', there is a feel and a relaxed look about it that can be achieved.

MY suggestion is that you look at (do a google and Pinterest search) French country and French designed rooms and see what it is about you that attracted you to it and choose those elements and colors. It helps me to look at inspiration photos because I can see how fabrics look in the rooms and what types of patterns I like.

I love those waverly fabrics...I agree you can do red/yellow with your white sofa.

I love that inspirational photo! Since you have a wonderful example, you can get your mix of fabrics organized.

I think the 'all white' slip cover look is great, but I see it EVERYWHERE and I do not have a careful, nor neat husband so it is not a look for my house.

I love a house full of pattern and color.
I guess you just want to try different fabrics on the pieces of furniture you already own, and create window treatments.

There used to be a woman named Barb whose husband retired from the Marimes. Think she lives in NC. People on the board remember her screen name.

Anyway.....she decorated her home using that same rooster fabric. Posted pictures. She's quite talented. Maybe someone knows how to search for her messages to find the pictures for you.

I love that Waverly fabric- I have it in mustard in my dining room which opens to my LR. I wouldn't call my rooms french country- but there is a definite influence though.

I think you could easily incorporate that color scheme with your white couch by adding some pillows or a throw for the back using those colors.
