I feel abandoned.
For weeks now I have not been able to post any pictures, urls, paint swatches, etc. and no matter how a few have said they too cannot, many others still are able to.
I finally sent a help letter to HGTV and received no response whatsoever.
Today, I wanted to start a thread of my own with a question about whether it was safe or not to use windex on quartz and granite countertops and I am not able to do that either.
I cannot start my own thread.
What could be going on that after all these years this has happened to me and no one else?
Is there no one out there to help me with an answer?
Do I have to quit and come back as someone else with a new user name?

Okay. Thankfully I was able to start my own thread finally. But I still cannot post any paint swatches, urls etc.

You are not alone altho I'm not sure what the solution is. Perhaps keep sending messages to the mods. There have been several problems for most people since the techs did their last board 'improvement'. The only problems I had was with posting emoticons and URL's. *However* I just bought a new computer and the first time I logged in I couldn't see pics, just that red circle with the line thru. So I logged out, then logged back in and could see pics.

Maybe I'd better see if I can start a new thread!

Don't give up, there must be an answer.

Hi Arepo,

Please tell us how you are doing the url. The little buttons on top of the reply box don't seem to work for me.

Simply go to your URL site-Copy&Paste directly into your reply. Hope that helps.

What steps are you doing to make a New Post?

Perhaps we can help discover the problem.

BTW:

Where are logging in? Should be over on the right hand side of Message Boards.

Check to see if you are actually on the MB.

It's NOT where it says "Log In or Join Now" above the F-T or P symbols at top right side of main page.

What error message do you get?

Arepo, have you tried a different browser? I know how frustrating it is when you want to add to a thread or start a new one and cannot. I hope we can find an answer for you.

I never receive an error message.
I don't log on, I am automatically logged in to the right of "GO/NEW/FIND/TOOLS"
I have an icon on my desktop that takes me right to that page and I am Welcomed across from "WELCOME"
so that cannot be the problem. I've been doing it "forever and a day"

As to the url:
The third in from Smiley and Color is the URL.
I have always left clicked on it which brought up a space for me to print my copied url or paint swatch, but no more.
Is there another way to do it I don't know about? (sigh!)
And why isn't the forum nanny forthcoming?
If I even use one word that looks like it may be off key they are right there.
How come the moderators are not helpful to their members?

I refuse to institute a new browser. I like the one I have and it has always worked for me till several months ago. There has to be a better way.

That URL Button DOES NOT work. You simply go out to the site you want, Copy the link from browser, go back to your reply-posting box and Paste. Your link will show.

If you check the above post and scroll down there are shortcuts to do the smileys. They work on some boards and not here.

They made changes to the boards and the buttons no longer work.

I just wanted to add one more thing that may help for people who can't bring up pics.

Go to your tools (top bar), Go into Compatability View Settings and hit add. You should see hgtv.com in the box. Close and see if this helps. This has helped me on some sites.

arepo, the HGTV boards work much better if you use the Mozilla Firefox browser, instead of IE.
At least, that's been my experience.
