This is the color of my bedroom:
Paint Color (Lowe's)

All of the furniture in my bedroom is a dark grey-ish brown so I really wanted a pop of color for a new desk.

I really wanted this blue desk for my small apartment bedroom, but I'm not sure if it will go?!

I also like the red variation and think it might go better than the light blue, but I'm not sure?

I like the price of those two, but if neither of those work I'll just get this variation:

the blue is stunning with that wall color. If you have other places in your home with blue, especially deep blue, that will look nice to tie in that color in your home. And it has the added feature of bringing in a nautical type feeling to the room.

Otherwise (if no other blue) then the grey works nice as a cool neutral color.

ITA about the nautical feel but also leaning toward the gray. It would be easier to give an opinion if we saw a pic of the room and furniture.

Well I would give a pic of my room, but currently my apartment management is replacing my carpet so all of my furniture is AWOL. But I'll try to get a pic up after everything is back to normal.

I have the Hopen Ikea Furniture Set, with the 8-drawer dresser in my closet (not the 6-drawer chest). I took the gross cheap faux wood pull doors off of my closet. I instead have two of these room dividers from Amazon in front of my closet with a distressed floor mirror standing in front of one of them. I then have this Pier 1 console table holding my TV. Lastly I have these walnut colored lamps from target - floor lamp and table lamp.

Hope this paints a well enough picture!

All of this is crammed into my room in addition to a big, mismatching, overbearing cherry desk. I really, really want the blue desk/shelf. However, the the grey one might make more sense with my grey/black-brown bedroom set and other black furniture pieces. Either way I really need the thinness of this unit!

I'd go for blue, jukra. Given your mix of grey and walnut, I'd be concerned about introducing another grey shade or dark tone.

Don't know if you have any other accent colors but I would also try to repeat the blue around the room - possibly with a fabric including both blue shades.

Thanks! When my apartment returns to normal I'm going to order this!

My bed sets are blue/have blue in them and my throw blanket is blue. I'm not sure what else I could do :P

Oh, w/o photos, didn't know about the existing blue.

In general, IMHO, it's usually much easier to select the fabrics and then match the paint and other items. Did you consider or search for unfinished ladders?

And, transitioning from a large desk - will the C&B desk ladder provide enough function? Another option could be a small, clean-lined desk, flanked by 2 of the basic ladders. Perhaps all 3 items could be sprayed in a high-gloss blue -

You do have add'l opportunities for fabrics from what you described. One option would be to purchase extra sheets, if you like your existing blue fabric. To use that or some other fabric, you could do a cork board over the desk, use it behind your drawer fronts, for window coverings, etc. - so, tons of possibilities.

Always the troublemaker! Speaking for my monitor only, I definitely prefer the grey with the furniture in the room being a dark brown/grey.
As for pops of color, before I even saw your photos, I was already picturing the pop to be a bright, deep turquoise.
All this, of course, is predicated on the fact that the light blue you posted looks much closer to a soft aqua on my monitor.
If, however, that is really not the case, then I do opt for the dark blue bookcases and would continue deep blue throughout the room as my pop of color.

Had another thought, jukra. Have you considered painting out the walnut? Possibly in the darker blue?

That'd give you gray and the blues. You could certainly add another accent color, too. That could be chosen by shopping for a fabric, rug, artwork, accessories or other inspiration item for the room.

This unit from crate and barrel will provide loads of function. I currently have no shelves in my room. I just have this giant clunky desk. I own an all-in-one desktop, which is on a small secretary desk in my living room. This will be perfect for my laptop. Right now my desk chair rolls back straight into my bed with barely enough space to get in there. Lots of frustration when trying to use my laptop!

It think it would be really awesome to paint the lamps blue, but I'm not that handy.

Have always thought your idea to add the ladders was a good one. I was thinking of a very small, streamlined desk and no wider or longer than the single ladder it would have replaced - to enhance the remaining two ladders. Glad you have an alternative desk available.

I believe painting the 2 lamps would be relatively easy. If the shades can be temporarily removed, they could easily be prepped and then sprayed with primer and paint. If not, it wouldn't be that difficult to cover the shades and either spray or brush/roll/sponge.

Have you thought about having a few jobs done professionally? Do you have a handyperson available or even a friend to trade services with?

You've mentioned how small the space is. I can understand why you removed the closet doors and purchased the screen. The closet doors might be another item to consider painting. If appropriately prepared and primed, the faux wood could also be spray-painted.

In fact, your space might appear larger and feel more stream-lined if you used your wall color on the closet doors. (Or, white's always a good choice.) Although the screen was a terrific alternative, the room might feel a little less cramped with one less bulky furniture piece.

In addition, if you have a few jobs to combine, it may be worth the trip for a pro. Just a thought -

I think you choose light wood color for you wall and white color for you top.

Hi Jukra, I would suggest you to go for white, and blue color combo for your room. It will highlight all your furniture really well.
