I saw this hutch top on CL. I asked for dimensions and the seller replied that is was 6ft 1in long, 3ft 10in tall and 11 in deep... Does that look 73 inches long to you? Personally I don't think it looks that wide, but I could be wrong. What would be a polite way to ask the seller to remeasure? ![]()

well, there are 32 pieces of beadboard along the back. my beadboard is about an inch and a half wide.. so its about 48 inches wide without the edges.. if EACH beadboard was 2 inches it would still be 64 inches plus the outside edge.. so no it isn't 72 inches long. Life is GOOD!!

Also if the sides are 36" tall, take that dimension and put it horizontal and it won't fit 2, meaning 36" for height measurement is not equal to half of that width. I would tend to agree with the 48" to 64" (also mentioned) area for width measurement. I also counted the beadboard widths. In the seller's defense they could have measured 64" and then stated quickly that must mean 6' 4" then.... well you know, I have had a seller tell me that something was substantial, and got to the house to find almost child-scale size that I saw no way could I ever call that big in size! LOL CL experiences could fill a book! Great piece though, and I would visit that in person and take a measuring tape with you, unless it is too far to drive. Sometimes I ask for another photo to be taken with a normal sized soda can on the shelf, or a normal wooden ruler on the end of the shelf. Thank you Kathy..I was trying to figure out how wide the beadboard might be to figure out how wide that hutch actually is. They are local. I guess I could always just go see it and check the measurements for myself.

Looks like it might be 66-68" across the back. Also looks like there might be a crown moulding across the top. Depending on how much it protrudes, you'll have several inches of crown to account for in an overall dimension. If you're getting it to set on top of something else, you might ask the seller to give you dimensions of the bottom, including that little piece of shoe mould or quarter round. That should give you an idea of whether the bottom will fit on top of where you want to put it as well as verifying whether the dimensions stated in their ad were correct. Just a thought. Yes, dimensions look right. Height is 46 inches, not 36 inches. length measures out to just under 1 2/3 of the height.
