This is finally a picture of my house that I asked the question about earlier today. It has taken many tries to finally get it posted. I hope someone can answer my questions about the door, roof , and shutter color to go with the cream siding and red metal roof. TIA

Even I would suggest no change in this house. It looks really beautiful as such.

I like it as is too. How lucky you are to have a two story porch on the front. I like how the red door stands proud as a warm and welcoming entry also. BTW, you can add more color via some railing mounted flower boxes (I think I see hanging baskets of flowers tho). Lovely home indeed.

I love your house. It looks classic yet inviting. I would love to see the red of the front door repeated in some landscaping close to the foundation, like azalea or red asiatic lillies.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. The roof, has to be replaced due to storm damage which is mostly on the back side. A shutter blew off this spring during a storm and broke into many pieces and the original siding is some type of material that is not in good condition. That's why all this is being done now. We're also adding a third dormer in the center just because we think it would look much better and this is good timing for it during the siding and roof change. There are dark pink/rose colored azaleas across the front but it's past blooming time and they didn't bloom much this year anyway for some reason.

I also love your house. Are you in the south? Maybe North or South Carolina?

So the red metal roof is in the plans for your house? You could also paint the chairs red esp if the house siding is cream rather than white.

Have you locked yourself into replacing the roof with a red metal roof? That's an almost permanent decision and one that you will have to live with for a VERY long time. I would opt for a more neutral color on the roof. I'm one who believes a roof should fade into the background and not be brought to the forefront. A red metal roof makes the roof an element you wish to draw attention to. These are just thoughts I wanted to offer for your consideration.

You have a lovely home in the picture. You are intending to put a red metal roof on it though with cream siding...is that correct? You're asking for opinions if you replace your current roof with a red metal roof and the siding will be cream on what color to use on shutters and the front door...is that right? With this color scheme you're considering, since the roof may be red metal, I feel you will be limiting your options. If you went more neutral on the metal roof (pewter, black, charcoal, or silver metal), then you would open up the accent color choices considerably for shutters and the front door.

I am in VA but not northern VA. I have seen a house a few years ago that had siding similar to the pale yellowish cream color with a red roof that I thought was stunning. I do not remember anything else about the house except it wasn't the same style as ours. I'm not sure if I like grey with the color of the siding. I would call it more pale yellow than cream. We've considered black but my husband is afraid a black metal roof would be too hot during the summer months here.
The shutters now are dark red with a more beige siding and white trim although it doesn't show that well in the photo.

Agreed! (And, I like the white, black, and red colors you already have...)

I looked at your post early this morning and haven't read the comments posted since, so you may have already chosen a different route or something, but here's what your place might look like with the original changes you were considering. I actually like it. We have places around here done in a similar manner. This should give you an idea.
