Help!

We're still trying to settle on kitchen details and I need to choose a sink. Cabinets will be white, counters will be Ural Grey (samsung radianz), and backsplash will be a ceramic tile that looks like marble with a decorative tile insert.

Floor tile will be Ridgeview Blue/Gray. Picture below shows the floor tile with sample of back-splash (6x6) tile, deco silver tile (sample), hardware sample, and counter color.

The original plan was for a stainless steel sink - but at the time the counter was a pale gray. The new counter is much darker. My assumption is that we should now choose a white sink (still apron front) as the stainless apron would look too contemporary with the white cabs and dark counter.

Any thoughts? I really need this decision out of the way - we've had a hard time choosing items but need to make a decision so that contractors can put in their bids and we can get going on this (I had hoped to be almost completed by now and we haven't even started)

Photo is a bit dark - but the kitchen is large with huge skylight - colors are very bright and clean in the natural light, and all upper and lower cabs will be white. Any wall surface will be a pale barely there gray (to be determined).

Adding a white apron sink to your kitchen is like adding jewelry to a beautifully dressed woman. It just adds that special touch. Love your combination of finishes!

Thank you both - we were all set to go choose the sink yesterday, but we had an "11th hour" change on the counter. We could not find any tile/back-splash to go with the pale gray counter. It was beautiful but vanished next to anything! Took the new counter sample to Lowes and flipped over this tile. Really pretty and not as cold as genuine marble tiles (don't get me wrong though - I love that look!). Not to mention how affordable it is.

So we got to the plumbing store and the SS sinks were not doing it for us and the white sinks are so incredibly pretty. I'll go back this week with the samples to get the right match.

BTW - this little gem arrived this week. Best thing is that it is ready to go - operational without installation! 58 bottle capacity.

(and you also get a really good idea as to what the kitchen looks like now - 1972 flashback anyone?)

Sounds great!

I love white, apron front, farm style sinks...in all their incarnations! That said, it's dicey when you have white cabs and either white appliances or sinks. It would bother me if the colors were "off"...you know, close, but no cigar. For me, they would have to match perfectly, or be different enough to look planned, such as a soft white sink and off-white or antique white cabs. Just me.

I agree with Belstone. I like the stainless sinks...

I will be stopping by the showroom tomorrow to pick out a sink. We already addressed the "white" vs "off-white" issue, so all I have to do is pick a model.

I did want the stainless, but the styles were too modern for the kitchen (with the change in counter color). The next big question is the size of the sink. We're set with the 33 in base, but most sinks are not 33 inches. So I will very likely be getting a 29/30 in sink.

I've also opted to get the dishwasher panel so that the unit will match the cabinets. This way it will a)blend with the cabs and b) not be an issue with trying to match other appliances later on down the road (if replacements are needed).

I built a house in 2002. At the time, my best friend said to make sure I considered a Silgranit sink. I said I wanted white porcelain and stuck with it. She lives in Southern California and I lived in Oklahoma at the time. During the holiday season we went to visit her. I fell in love with her sink. Later I get a divorce, buy a home with good bones, but needed upgrading. I put that sink in and absolutely love it. My life is taking me on an unplanned journey. I will be getting a different house. Build, or buy existing, I will get my Silgranit sink back! Check them out.
