Does anyone have a suggestion as to what to use for "Duck Egg Blue" in Anne Sloan chalk paint? I can't afford her paint and wanted to use something that is similar in color.

Funny you should ask this, I've been looking online for the same. 2 different people said 2 different paint colors by Behr, one was Gray Morning and the other was Lotus Leaf. I have a sample card of the lotus leaf and its in the turquoise family and the gray morning looks like a light blue-ish grey to me.

heres one of the sites:
She gives color matches to AS paints

can you to store that sells the paint you want and get a chart that has the color in it? Then take the color chart to the store that sells the Behr paint and have them match the color with the machine they use to match colors from other companies. I did when I had a color I liked but I didn't like the brand that made the color. Turned out a good look a like.

Annie thanks for the link! I think I might prefer the gray morning rather than the one that is in the turquoise family but I will get both to compare. It will be a helpful link. From time to time I see on someone's blog that they use Duck Egg Blue and it always looks pretty. I wonder who sells "Lotus Leaf"?

Ice Cream, I don't have a store near me so can't really pick up a color chart easily. I was aware you can match that way. I used to work in a paint store.

Just an fyi......

I found out last fall that Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, etc. already have the most popular paint store colors in their computers. You might just call and ask if they can mix that color.

I posted the last post before I saw the last two! After seeing that blog, I think maybe I like Lotus Leaf the best. I will see when I get the actual samples. We have been living in a home we bought here in AZ but have to go back to Ia to get some more of my furniture and sell my house. I have a pie safe that I would like to paint and that is what I needed the color for. If I ever get to the point of getting moved and doing some painting and sewing, I will post some pics. Seems like a forever process!

Hammerhugger, I'm going to try my hand at homemade chalk paint and I'm leaning towards using Lotus Leaf because I'm looking at more of a turquoise color. I probably won't get to the project for a week or so. I'll keep you posted on my progress.
Good luck with your too!

Annie, I would appreciate that. In Iowa I have the recipe for the chalk paint using the unsanded grout but it is cheaper to use plaster of paris. Which will you be using? I will keep looking for your post!

Hammerhugger, I will be trying it with plaster of paris. I bought the paint yesterday, but won't be able to work on it till at least next weekend, I still have to finish up the removal of the old paint, this day job just gets in the way sometimes.....

Or, if you can find a fabric swatch, or a picture in a magazine (like HGTV), take it to the store - either a specialty like Sherwin Williams or even the local Ace Hardware, and ask them to match it.
