I think you may need to visit a carpet dealer to ask these questions and get the best answers. You aren't obligated to buy, but you can get some good advice. Don't ask at big chains stores, unless the people in that department are knowledgeable about carpeting.
I don't mean this to sound rude, but did you not get the answers you wanted on your previous thread?
I have specified carpet for various applications for many years. Loop is generally not the best choice for wear on stairs. I don't know how long you plan to keep this carpet but the average life expectancy for carpet on stairs and in hallways is 5-7 years. I will repeat my original advice, go to a carpet store and ask questions of someone who knows what they are talking about.

Yeah, sort of like your answer wasn't good enough, ya' gotta wonder why we bother some times.

You starting another thread doesn't offend me in the least.
It seems like you didn't get as many answers as you would like, which is why I think you should visit a carpet store. You're going to buy carpet somewhere, right? Where else are you going to see as many samples of color, style, texture and at the same time get your questions answered? Unless someone on this board is a carpet salesperson or installer, all you are going to get is opinions, based on personal experience. That's all well and good but you will end up getting as many opinions as you get replies. Carpet is not cheap these days and stairs are one of the higher labor costs. To get it right you need to talk to someone knowledgeable and someone whose job it is to make you the customer happy.
