I have 2 yr old twins (boy & girl) and am not ready to split them up into their own rooms yet; however their room needs updated from the 'baby' theme...I'm looking for some ideas on what to do...something fun & *posh*...suggestions PLZ!!!

Awww, what fun that must be to have twins! As for a theme, do they gravitate towards the same ideas? Such as candy-land or other board game, or zoo animals, ocean creatures??? Those aren't so posh tho. Could you incorporate a local theme of mountains, or whatever may be 'famous' there?

What fun! I'd find something smart and youthful, like blue and green and white, or denim and peach, in a tailored stripe or a homespun madras. For ease I'd find the bedding first, then accessorize and paint around it. Plan for lots of storage.

I have B/G twins who are 5 now. At 2 I remember them picking out their own birthday cake colors and theme. Are there things/colors they like? I did stripes on my daughter's room, with Brandy Cream (BM) as the base, with white on top. I added one thin stripe in pink that could easily be taped off and repainted in a different color if she wanted me to do it. It certainly looks "posh." I did vertical stripes, with one thicker stripe in the middle, and two 1 inch stripes on either side. Easy with tape.

My twins never shared a room, but when I was thinking about it, I was going to use maps and stuff in the room, a travel theme in a way, so they could learn from the "art" too!

I love, love Cavallini "wrapping" paper sheets. They are so cheap and look lovely framed as art.

if the room is not big enough, a trundle bed is a great alternative...bwlieve me, lol..my dd1 was 4 and ds1 2, when we doubled the family with b/g twins...in a 2 br condo! thanks be found a house before the twins turned 6 months...

i like the bright color bedding at wal mart, too...

When my B/G grandtwins were 2, they were both interested in the same things...Barney, the Wiggles, anything Fisher Price, Cheerios, sippy cups...gender didn't seem to be an issue. At that age, and since it's temporary, focus on what they like, their favorite books, toys, games...make it cute, bright, happy, fun. Then, come back and post pix!

ETA: Thought I'd come back and share what we did in my Grandtwins room...when they were still infants, though. We fell in love with a quilt in a catalog, so we reproduced it on the walls. DH built some storage and a window seat and put up a chair rail about 2/3rds up the wall, so we only had three shorter walls to do. We painted patches in many sizes...squares, rectangles, tall, narrow, wide short...in pink, blue, yellow, green and lavender, then "sewed" them together with black "stitching" lines. Then, we painted flowers, butterflies, spiders, inchworms, etc. in the patches...cute as can be! In one patch, we put the babies footprints. They moved out when they were 18 months old and they are 11 now but the new owners STILL have the walls exactly the same as they were when we painted them!

Gender neutral palettes and themes could be inspired by their favorite books, movies, music, animals, interests, nature, etc.. Find something they both love, but don't go too themey as their tastes will change rapidly. Even a black and white space puncuated by pops of color(s) can be fun and playful. Draw scheme inspiration from bedding in a geometric, abstract, stripe, plaid or nature inspired print.

Came back to say I downloaded some of the pics from Katie O's reference to pinterest. My sister is have boy/girl twin grandchildren soon. (they have 3 other children under 6 and mom and dad both work full time. . . oh, happy day!?!?)

when the twins were born found raggety ann/andy fabric and used that for the cribs...think joann's caries it...(mine are 36 this year)kept the pallet plain white, but had red and white accents...as i said earlier we had all in one room..thank heavens the room was big enough to have the trundle bed on one wall and the cribs on the other...

later on, when the girls had to share (omg ww 3) i took back to back dressers in the middle of the room with twin beds on either side...
