Happy Monday everyone!
Please share pictures or just tell us about any recent or favorite finds you many have found. They can be old, new or anywhere in between. Prices are always fun to hear.

No goodies for me so I'll just admire all of yours!

I bought 8 ($3.99 + discount) of these plates last weekend while over on Hilton Head thinking I would hang them on my wrought iron plate racks. They will not work on the hangers I have, so, until I come up with another solution I'll just sit them around on my tables.

A favorite thread. Look forward to it every week.

I have a "find" this week. Found these two plates at GW for $1.95 each. Wish there had been more than 2 of them. They are not dinner size, so maybe salad size.

Haven't decided how I will use them yet.

Georgia Peach and Strings, both of your plates are very pretty. Each reflect a different mood. Nice finds!

Georgia Peach's find says fall to me and Strings says Home! (but not Portland Head light)

I too got dishes this week at our swap shop. The place was really humming Sat. with lots of goodies coming and going. One woman announced as she was coming in that she was bringing in an entire "red" bedroom, accessories, bedding, candles etc. etc. I took two red candle things for Xmas. I also got a decanter from another load of nice kitchen things.

There was a Bertoia chair that I kept trying to "sell" to other "shoppers" it was black. Finally one woman took it, I told her to google it for value (think it is about $500)

My best take was a large lot of Arlzberg china cups/saucers and b&b sized plates. 17 cups, more saucers and many more of the other plates

We also got a VHS tape of a journey the QE2 took to Australia and New Zealand. QE 2 was our first journey on an ocean liner and so is very dear to us and the travelogue part really made us want to visit those countries.

I had some cup gaps in my cupboard that are now filled!

I also got these gift boxes which will come in handy at Xmas.

The wooden box is a Lane cedar box. I remember when every engaged woman would have as her heart's desire a Lane cedar chest!

LOS, you got quite a haul! I would imagine your china cabinet must be full by now. The Swap Shop idea is great. BTW,I do have a Lane Cedar chest!

Georgia Peach, your leaf plates are wonderfully evocative of autumn and will really bring that season into your home.

Strings, I love your lighthouse plates. I'm a sucker for cool plates. I keep saying that I'm going to hang mine somewhere, but I haven't so far. Yours would look terrific mounted in separate shadowbox type frames and displayed on a wall.

Lady of Shallot, I'm amazed that you had any room in your china cupboard! It looks like you found a great set to fill the spaces, though, and some good chests and boxes.

My etched glasses should be here later today. If they arrive unbroken (fingers crossed), I'll post a picture of them.

Nice plates, I think they would make great serving plates for special meals or fish and chips!

LOS, Looks like the empty spots in your cupboards do not stay 'empty' long!

Nice finds and some with memories is a great find too!

I like the boxes, I look for some too at thrift stores, I found square flat basket ones one time with hinges and people love getting a gift inside, they feel the 'box' is the gift, till they open it and then there is another gift too!

Your 'swap shop' is AMAZING with everyone working to make it FUN as well as getting great stuff!

MY FIND:
I bought this gazebo (as shown in CL photo with all parts included, top canvas and the screen for the sides) for $40.
Now I have a sheltered place to finish my sanding and paiting projects outside in the yard!
We were looking for one (didn't want to ruin a new one), it will eventually be used for a 'spraying booth' for our kitchen cabinet doors. Then we can take it down and get rid of it without having too big an investment into it.

Good find, Mary Ruth. I need to spray paint some window hardware and started thinking about where I could do it that would be semi-dust free and that overspray wouldn't harm anything. I guess I could move the cars out of the garage and do it there, but that's definitely not a dust-free zone. Do you have a solution other than setting up a spray booth?

Gracie, fingers crossed for your glasses. I have a lot of plates I need to sell (I'm thinking Ebay) but I'm worried about them breaking. Definitely post a picture when they arrive.

Thanks, so glad I found this! Our garage is too full to move things out to use as our workspace. With the weather getting cooler it will be nice to spend more time outside.

What I have seen for small items like hardware is using a large cardboard box. Make the opening in the front (box laid down sideways).

Then spray hardware in short spurts. I would not recommend this being done in the house, but in the garage or out of doors.

We make a lot of over-spray when we keep our finger on the button. If you paint in short spurts you can avoid over doing the 'cloud' effect.

Mary Ruth, thank you so much for the tips on how to spray paint safely. A box makes so much sense as a mini-spray booth.

Skyler, as long as you pack your dishes the way a mover packs them so they won't move in the box or knock together, you should be fine. The mistake that I see most often is that the pieces are individually wrapped well, but they aren't packed in the box correctly, so they smash together when the box is thrown about by the automated sorters or broken because they are too near the wall of the box. Also, parcel post is much harder on shipments than priority mail and UPS/Fed Ex.

Luckily, the lady that sent these glasses knew how to pack and they all arrived unbroken. They are molded not blown glass with a rolled lip. They have etched leaves and a cluster of three berries repeated around the bowl and FRANCE is on the bottom as a raised mold stamp, rather than etched as it is on fine crystal. They are about 5" high and hold 4 oz. comfortably. I used to have some Libbey glasses like this years ago except that they weren't etched. If anyone knows the maker or pattern, please let me know. Don't do any searching for it because it's not that important, just casual curiosity on my part.

Skyler, what patterns do you have that you want to sell? There are quite a few posters here who live within driving distance of you, so if anyone were interested, you wouldn't have to ship, just arrange for pick-up.

I often wonder if some day I will post an eBay purchase and a thread reader will pop up and say, "Hey, I sold you that!"

On Friday, we welcomed our first grandchild, Benjamin (AKA "Benji"). I know I am biased, but he is just the sweetest little thing! It doesn't get any better than this.

Nice glasses. I have seen those now and then in my travels. I thought the pattern was clover, but could be wrong.

Funny you mentioned that about running into someone who sold you something.

Many years ago, I bought things at yard sales and had yard sales to move things out as newer things would come into my home. One time I painted a vanity and when my daughter was not that interested in it any longer I sold it.

Years later, my new inlaws had me over for a huge family cookout. As I was given the house tour, I recognized the old Victorian style vanity in one of the rooms. I asked my new SIL where she got that vanity, she said mom picked it up at a yard sale some years back. I asked my new MIL where she got the vanity and she told me the area where the yard sale was, and I said 'that was my yard sale'! We all had a good laugh and it was amazing how I ran into the vanity again! I had painted the piece white and painted a few ivy leaves on it and marked the back with a date I had painted it, so it was easy to prove it was the same vanity! Later, I ended up painting a few pieces for a guest room in my MIL's house that were similar to that original vanity.

That is amazing that the vanity would end up at your new in-laws. I guess you would know that you have decor taste in common with them after that happened.

Gracie, I have a lot of Lalique plates and some various ones that belonged to my in-laws. My MIL and husband's aunt both collected plates so we have many sets. I imagine some are valuable, I just need to do some research. Sad to see them laying in cupboards in the garage, but I just don't have room for all of them.

Your glasses are very pretty and I'm glad to hear they made it there safely. Thank you for the info on packing and shipping.

Skyler, the good news is that research on pricing is easy to do for relatively common china and crystal using the eBay completed listings option, Worthpoint.com sales data, and the Replacements.com listings. As you know, the Replacements prices are about 300% of what you would get on eBay. Of course, if the items are extremely valuable or truly antique, you would probably want to sell them through a reputable auction house to get the best price.

Thanks to each one of you. I am just beside myself. I never realized how much I would love him instantly. Please forgive me, but my thoughts of decorating have been "put on the back burner" temporarily. I'm preoccupied.

Hi All!

I came today a bit late. I was anxious to see all of the finds.

You ladies have found such beautiful plates, cups, etc. I thought I was seeing things, when I saw Mary Ruth's gazebo. It's such a beauty! I never met a box with a lid that I didn't like...pretty glasses make me feel special, no matter the contents. I can't wait to join in the fun.

But just as I was scrolling down to the next picture, I saw the beautiful baby! He's gorgeous! It's been a long time since I have held a new baby. Lady50, you have been blessed with the most precious addition, ever. Congratulations to you.

Seeing everone's pictures just made me smile.
