Monday Morning/Favorite Finds 11/26/12
Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving spent with family, friends and lots to be thankful for.

Now that we're all out of our turkey coma let's play Show N' Tell. Please share pictures or just tell us about any recent or favorite treasures you have. Prices are fun to hear too.

I bought two lampshades for my living room lamps. Unfortunately, my camera is down so I can't take pictures.

Anyone else have any goodies?

Hello to everyone too! Thanks Skyler for this great MMF's thread! Looking forward to seeing what everyone has found!

I LOVED Thanksgiving this year, best in 5 yrs. I did all the planning, shopping, prep work, cooking and clean up and lived to tell about it! I was proud of that accomplishment! It was just for DH and I (so no added pressure) and I cooked enough for at least 6 people! (left overs, DH wanted lots of leftovers). I made soup the next day from the natural turkey I got. Yummy!

I hope you find the issue with your camera. Pictures are so important in our lives these days! I crave that 'eye candy'!

We are slowly working on our Armoire for the kitchen. It has been partly taken apart, all unnecessary parts removed, added braces where needed, new back put on (took out old cardboard-like backer with TV cut out), and today the Armoire is lying on the floor on its back getting added support on the bottom to prepare for its workhorse duty of being my baker's pantry! I am getting excited about it!
So my MMF's is MORE storage space for my baking utensils and supplies!

Next week pull out trays will be made to fit this Armoire (found on CL for $75)

The armoire is lovely!

I haven't participated in this thread for a while, because I've been trying so hard not to accumulate more "stuff". My house is stuffed! However, I just couldn't resist these dishes. They are Johnson Brothers, service for eight, and a few extras for $90. I can't wait to set a pretty table!

The storage amoire is going to be great for your kitchen, Mary Ruth.

Annon, I have serious dish envy.

Thanks for sharing.

MR -- great armoire for baking supplies -- that's a great idea!

Annon -- love those dishes -- I simply adore any English china. And that is a great price!

Annon,
Oh I wouldn't be able to resist those dishes either! Beautiful! I can't resist Johnson Brothers either!

Strings, Thanks I am getting so excited!

Linderhof,
Yes, we finished our renovation of pantry food storage and we now have separated the baking goods. And this Armoire is next to the stove for convenience!

Mary Ruth, that armoire is going to be wonderful storage when you finish. I can't wait to see it when you get it loaded up with your baking tools and supplies.

Annon, those dishes are so pretty and you found a terrific bargain, too. I love Johnson Brothers patterns. I recently gave away my large set of Heritage white because I had been using them forever and I wanted something more colorful. Yet, there have been any number of times when I've wished that I could pull those white plates out to mix with other patterns.

I'm in the midst of decorating for the holidays as I'm sure many of you are. I've always liked the concept of advent calendars, but I've never owned one, partially because we travel out-of-state for the holidays so we only are home for about half of the advent season. Nevertheless, I saw this dimensional version on a flash sales sites this year and bought it in a moment of weak self-control. It arrived this morning.

Yes, Skyler, thank you for being such a faithful friend to this board with MMF!

Mary Ruth, I love to see the work you and your DH do. . . it is always so creative and well done. This will be a wonderful pantry.

Anon, I had a huge set of Johnson Bros Rose Chintz. Gave it to my niece, hope she will enjoy them as I hope you enjoy your new set. I know when I priced mine out (got at auction) on Replacements it came to several $1,000. So you got a good buy.

DD gave me the table pictured. We just happened to be in the basement of the cabin when she spotted it. It is exactly what I have been looking for. A smaller table for the two of us that I can also play Mah Jongg on and that has four leaves to enlarge it if need be.

It is antique and walnut.

Set up for Mah Jongg. It is a dite too long for real comfort in playing, but maybe it will work anyway.

Beautiful finds everyone. My dear mother had a set of Johnson Bros. English Chippendale dishes when I was growing up and I still have fond memories of Sunday breakfast served on them.

I don't have a picture of my find but my husband and I put in an offer on a small cottage on lakefront property recently. We are hoping the structure is solid so that we can remodel. The upcoming inspection should tell us if it is sound enough and if it is worth the price. The floor plan isn't perfect but the location is.

LOS,
Thanks, DH and move so much slower these days! LOL

Nice table, 4 leaves! WOW that is not easy to find.
I guess there is one leaf on the table now?

SBK,
Oh wishing you ALL the luck in getting the lake! I hope the structure is sound enough for you to transform it into your dream get away!

No, this is as small as it gets. It was comical seeing us try to upright this table once DH got it into the house by himself with a hand cart! We were like the keystone cops. He did not want to use just one or two legs to support it as he was afraid of the pressure/weight on them (this is a heavy table) Finally we thought to get the hassock from the l.r., tip the table onto that and then lift and turn it from there.

Lady of Shallot, I love that table. Congratulations on finding a way to get it turned upright without cracking one of the legs.

LOS,
I guess you could get a tray (with edges) and line the bottom with felt so it won't scratch the table, then you can just pull the tray closer to you when it is our turn! (for those on the wider sides).

Creative way to get the table in!

See those plastic racks? The game is played by having each player build a wall (36 tiles each) in front of their rack. Then the racks are pushed out in turn and the players pick the tiles from each wall. There are rules for the playing of this game and the tiles are picked one at a time from player to player.

This is a great game to play if one likes games.

That is why I posted what I did. I do not play with real tiles. I play the digital version (not similar at all).
Looks like fun!

Hello everyone, nice finds. Just a quick pop in. I'm in the midst of christmas decorating. Did the livingroom today.

I did pick up these candle sticks for $9.00 for the two. They are a heavy candle and will go with another pair I have that are quite substantial.

VG,
Nice, I can't resist a good pair of candle sticks!
I can see why you brought those home!

You got a head start on Christmas decorating!

Annon,
If I got photos of all our finds for this year, I think we could have filled a house!

MR, love your cabinet too.

I've just been so busy with trying to declutter the basement and now Christmas decor. I still have 3 trees to do, 2 more for me and one for mom. Better than the 7 plus 2 for mom that I use to do.

I did my winter wonderland in the livingroom this year, blues/silver/white.

VG -- I had candlesticks just like those -- bought new at Bombay I think. But in one of those rare cleaning moments, I had too many silver candlesticks and so got rid of them. Seeing yours, I'm sorry I did!

They are great!
