I'm having this chandelier hung tomorrow by our electrician and looking on the net I've found info to hang the chandelier 30" to 34" above the dining table.
I have 8ft ceilings and am wondering is the 30" - 34" apply to the base of the chandelier OR the base of the drum shade????

I prefer to do it this way....Have the tallest person in the household sit at the table. Hang the chandy just 4-6 inches above their line of sight. We're all pretty tall so mine just happens to be 30inches so that measurement works pretty good. LOL!

That's pretty much what we did! LOL
The base of the chandelier is 26" above the table and the base of the shade is at 33" and it looks perfect.
I went with the standard measurements and it just wasn't working. I'm now awaiting the pendents to be installed, but here's a pic of the chandy. I just LOVE it!

Sunny, OH that came out nice! I like how you tied in the shutters, wood bar? (to left) and the ceiling molding with the chandelier. Very NICE! I love that shade too... real nice up to date looking.

It looks great and love the light. Always better to go with your point of view over a specific measurement. BTW: I just measured our chandy and it is 26 inches above the table.

The general rule followed by designers and architects is that the bottom of the chandelier, should be 60 inches from the floor. 30 inches above a standard 30 inch high table. Not all tables are exactly 30 inches so that's the variable.
