We went on a Christmas Homes Tour yesterday. One of the bonuses of homes tour are ideas.

I found three that were cute and that were not Christmas and thought I would share --

What a great idea for a laundry room or even kitchen window. This was in the Butler's Pantry between dining room and kitchen.

The kitchen counter (in the same home) -- pages from cookbooks pasted to the counter and then polyed. I'm not sure that there is enough poly to make this a long lasting countertop but . . . it was clever.

This was painted on the tile -- it was a downstairs full bath that I think is mostly used as a half bath. Again, I'm not sure how it would hold up to every day several times a day showers.

I love all of those ideas. I always think about what I might do if I had to live in a house with countertops that I hated and covering them with something you enjoy viewing is a terrific idea for a short-term fix.

Thanks for sharing! I went on a home tour and they did not allow photos. You're so lucky. After each home, I typed tips into my cell phone so I could remember the good ideas I gained.

Thanks for posting! I especially like the aprons as cafe curtains. Very cottagey.

It's been a number of years since I toured a Designer Show House but I've always come away inspired. Typically different designers decorate different rooms so there is something to suit everyone's tastes. This is a great way to preview new products, applications and techniques and be ahead of the game if you so choose. Thanks for sharing ideas you encountered on your tour.
