I was googling this afternoon and came across this...

Do you think it was the idea for the first
Le Cornue Stove? It's in a French Chateau called Chenonceau.

Don't know how you'd get it in the house but talk about a focal point! LOL!
I wonder what it's like to cook on?

Looks a little older than vintage. LOL. But I would love one of those big stoves in a pretty color too.

Will you add a new stove in your kitchen re-do?

Amazing! It looks like it might be wood or coal burning. If it was, it would be a lot of work, and very hot to cook on! Fun to see. Thanks for sharing the photo.

Wow!!!! That is beautiful!!! It won't fit in my kitchen, so no worries about it being a "must have" Wink

WOW, of course the copper is the jewelry, the Bling!
Beautiful!

My grandmother's stove in her kitchen in Nova scotia (not this grand by any means) had a water well on the right side like this one with the spigot there hot water was available whenever you needed it. Grandma would keep adding more to keep the pot full. she had a warming tray over the back.

On that stove, cooking was ART!

That's a stove that would live happily at Linderhof -- of course, I'd have to build a room all to itself! LOL!

When we were in England last year, you couldn't take pics in the grand houses themselves but you could in the kitchens which they had set up like they were in days gone by, so I clicked away.

Stoves like in this picture were very prevalent!

Love it!

I can imagine the wonderful meals that have come from that stove back in the day, especially in France!
I see a huge flue coming up from the back so it probably is wood or coal burning.

It's definitely a sight to see, I'm in love with the copper too. I'm going to incorporate as much as I can in my kitchen remodel, but I'm going to have to settle for a regular 6 burner cooktop and two wall ovens.

This is what I have planned..

That certainly IS a STOVE! WOW! I wonder if stoves that large were at least partially fabricated on site. Otherwise it would have been very heavy and awkward to move into place. I expect, since it's likely made of cast iron, that the heat would be very even and likely the different ovens would have different temperatures for various types of baking. The closer to the heat source the higher the temperature would be.

I also absolutely adore the copper. Here's another pic of some of the other copper pieces in that kitchen. Imagine keeping it all polished!

Only the servants would know Wink

Very nice, and LOVE your new cooktop. We haven't picked out a range yet, but we ordered a wine cooler for our kitchen remodel. It holds 58 bottles of wine!! Can't wait to fill that up!

I wonder what the wine cellars in all these manors look like?

That's a neat range top that you have in mind. I had to do a cook top not a range top since I have a down draft. Love the copper, it's gorgeous. The stove is neat. I always wanted an AGA or Le Corneau. I couldn't get them so I have a Wolf cooktop and double ovens instead.
