I've never had much self confidence when it comes to accessorizing. It's mostly a hit or miss proposition with me. Today, nearly two years since we moved into our house, I finally decided it was time to "get off of high center" and make some changes in our built in bookshelves. I'll post a Before and After pic.

Here's the BEFORE:

The fan in the BEFORE pic is not part of the decor. The AC unit went out on this side of the house. Frown

So when I stop dreaming of bookcases and actually make the jump to get mine, do you hire out? You did a fabulous job!

I like your lamp (I have the same one) and the bookcase looks really good. I love your wall color, what is it?

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. Yes, I think the odd spacing of the shelves accomplished what I was looking for.

Sunny, I don't hire out, but I'd be happy to offer my opinion as a friend. Smile

Mountainbeach, I'm sorry but I don't know what the paint color is. It was in the house when we bought it. Ironically, I'm planning to change it whenever I can to Benjamin Moore "Bennington Gray." It's a darker neutral which will highlight the architecturral details better.
