I have several oil painting that I LOVE but the styles are so different. How does one hang them in the same vicinity? Even the colors are disparent.

I have one which I bought in Spain for my late brother - a very modern welder. Another still life of a violin that I did paint by number that my mother treasured and then Tom Sawyer watercolors............

Gallery wall comes to mind. Try searches on Houzz or pinterest. just type in gallery wall and you will get looootsa inspiration photos. Though many on here will probably have better ideas, Personally, I like groupings of unrelated art on large gallery walls.

Good art piece stands alone, and can be hung next to other good art pieces, without issue. (What constitutes good art in your home is your choice/decision, and should speak to you and make you feel something.)

But if you want more cohesive displays, then common framing and matting can work as a match point too. Or even an accent color on the display wall as a back ground, if you have many pieces.

Foot note: We Never understood those who came in the gallery to look for any painting that had colors that matched their couch.

LOL! Those are the folks who are looking for decor, not art. Any art that speaks to you will work in your home...it's about personal taste, and after all, that's what decorating is all about.

Exactly..think of an art museum wall. The unifying factor can come via the coloration of frames tho styles/shapes/sizes can indeed vary. Featuring them on a neutral wall also helps. Focus lighting onto this gallery wall. It can become an interesting collage of art.

An option is to feature them in similarly colored frames on floating ledges allowing you to interchange at whim. Vary the heights of the prints and stagger the rows of ledges.

If opting to hang them directly onto the wall, play w/ placement on a lg. sheet of butcher's paper on the floor. Be sure rows are level and spacing is consistent. Once a pleasing and balanced layout is achieved trace around the frames and tape the templet onto the wall. Then...hang your art. This eliminates the unwanted holes you would otherwise risk creating.

I agree with both of you!
