Happy Monday everyone! Time to share pictures or just tell us about any wonderful treasure you've found. Goodies can be old or new. We always love to hear prices, if you want to share. As a side note, I'll be in Canada for the next three weeks and will need a fill in for me. Beau's Rose, you have been so good at doing this in the past, would you be willing to do it again? Hopefully, you'll check in here, if not I'll start a seperate post. Ok, let the fun begin....This message has been edited. Last edited by: Skyler,

Went to an Estate Sale on Friday -- fabulous stuff and the most beautiful iron and marble top table . . . which wasn't cheap but it was pretty and I had some "pocket money" I had earned from my cooking classes so . . . but when they went to pick it up the marble was broken and I felt that the price was high for a big chunk of marble broken off (it fit back together and actually you couldn't tell it and it was old marble but . . .) So I did leave a bid but didn't get a call -- so someone either paid full price for it or bid more than I did (I bid 1/3 of the price). It may be one of those that I wished I hadn't let get away! However . . . I did get a plate and a bowl! The bowl is old blue and white -- and I've got it in my sunroom. Cost $17 Martha ![]()
The second was a mulberry transfer ware OLD plate (in fact I have a blue plate in the same pattern -- they must have made lots of that pattern because I've seen quite a few pieces) It's in the guest room next to the transfer ware open sugar bowl full of potpourri. Martha ![]()
Martha, maybe the table just wasn't meant to be. I have a marble table (both top AND base are marble) that I'll need to sell one day. I have no idea how to price it, maybe I'll enlist your help in pricing when the time comes. Your bowl and plate are fantastic!
Linderhof, Beautiful plates! Sorry you lost that table, but it WAS broken. You won't regret it, if was meant to be yours, it would have jumped into your arms and been perfect! I have a few projects going (to put it mildly) and working on a pair of chairs for my daughter's dining set. I am refinishing a CL table I found for her, and now decided she will get my 6 Pier One chairs I had (don't need 6 and hate to break up the set to keep 2). So, that meant I needed 2 for my dining table. I have two winged back chairs (painted chairs I did a few years back) and using a settee for the wall side of the dining area. We might build in a seat, not sure yet. So, I only need 2 chairs for any guests that come for dinner. Always wanted a rounded back chair for the dining table. Found these on CL for $20 for both. They had that factory antiqued finish where there is an antique glaze, fly speck and distressed look with a caramel brown coloring, obviously from a furniture store set probably in the 60's or 70's (gold velvet fabric seat). PHOTO is the CL listing photo Mary Ruth ![]() *****We don't see things as they are, we see things as WE are! ***** (Anaias Nin)***** http://pinterest.com/mary_ruth/

We took the chairs apart (DH and I) and fabric gone, seat spring assembly parts all removed, starting over with wood bottom seat and all new parts. Chair was re-glued (figured might as well secure it before investing fabric and time into them) All cane intact. Back is 44" high which is nicer with my 46" high wing back chairs. The wing back chairs have a nice rounded top, so this style back suits them more as coordinating. I tried a gray paint that I sanded most of it off, still working with the finish. Fabric was ordered and came in today, will post on next reply Mary Ruth ![]() *****We don't see things as they are, we see things as WE are! ***** (Anaias Nin)***** http://pinterest.com/mary_ruth/ ![]()

Fabric came today for the chair seats! I got extra to work with coordinating something else I have in mind. A HUGE THANK YOU to BrittanyDogMom3 for finding this fabric for me!!! AND on sale!!! Great chairs and wonderful fabric! Love your choice! Can't wait to see them finished! Martha

Thanks Cathie, Linderhof, I can't wait either! Mary Ruth ![]() *****We don't see things as they are, we see things as WE are! ***** (Anaias Nin)***** http://pinterest.com/mary_ruth/

Beautiful pieces Linderhof! And Mary Ruth, those chairs will be so much fun! Can't wait to see the final result! I love how you have altered the finish. I actually found my things earlier in the year, but decided to share as I am having so much fun with them. One of the picnic baskets was given to us when we got married, and then the other two I found for ten dollars each at two different thrift stores last spring. We have been doing a lot of big family meals and gatherings at Grandpas lake house this summer which means transporting a lot of food. It is so much more enjoyable to load up my baskets, rather than plastic grocery bags etc. Aesthetically very pleasing. And practical too. Best $20 I have spent in a long time! PS. I have been leaving them piled up like this in my kitchen as decoration for the summer. Bonus! This message has been edited. Last edited by: cocok,

Thought you might want to see a few of the things the kids and I found while out on the big 127 yard sales. We had so much fun. This is only part of our haul. I'm in to the primitive/country style so that will explain my finds. I spent less than $100.00 for all my finds and several are not pictured here. I got several baskets, some ornaments...small things. These are the bigger ones. Primitive cabinet will probably go in my bathroom... A retired couple makes different styles of cabinets to sell. Another little cabinet. I have one just like it that dh bought me the 1st Christmas we were married...29 years ago. I've always loved it. The one he got me I have Home Interior animal figurines in my bedroom. This one will hold my cardinal collection and will go in my living room. Couple of old rolling pins. Handmade afghan. Those flowers just appealed to me. I normally am not crazy about afghans. This will be pretty in my swing on the front porch in the spring/summer. Can you believe only $10.00 for it. Longaberger basket with liner. Milk glass candlesticks. Picture isn't clear but they are so pretty. Dd's large nativity she got for only $3.00. Put my small nativity I found for $1.00 to show the scale. They are even prettier in person. Picture dd bought for me as a surprise. She knows I love pictures of old barns, houses, mills etc. I have the perfect spot to hang it too. Bench...I started decorating around it. For now it will go in the dining room but once I get a buffet for that area I will move this to the hall or on the porch. Toothpick holder...I just liked the color. It was 25 cents. Pyrex bowl...I love bowls. Rabbits... Dd's big picture for her room. She got a steal on it at $15.00. Online the pic and framing was $180.00. Dd's blue carnival glass dish and part of a set of white with pink roses. She has a few more pieces of it. Dd's flowers she bought. She collects Home Interior Victorian lady figurines and this is her newest she found on the sale. Ds bought comic books, toys, games and a system. He'll resell most of it on Ebay. This is one he's keeping. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Lisa Ann, I am what I am because He is I AM!!!

cocok, Thanks, I was going to cover them up with slip covers, in other words, I bought these for the shape of the back, the slip cover would cover 3/4 of the legs too, but was told that they look nice enough to leave the cover off. I guess I can have them both ways now! What beautiful baskets! I agree, great $20 spent! Lisa Ann, Look at the routing on the front molding! A lot of work went into that cabinet! Nice little cabinet. And you already have a collection to put in it! I like the rolling pins! (someone had a Blizzard!) OH my all that work and you got it for $10! You couldn't even buy the yarn to make it for that! The Longaberger basket (WITH liner) good find. The candlesticks look similar to a set I have in clear, very old and dressy. You are all ready for Christmas with those nice nativity sets. Nice old building, really nice of your daughter to surprise you! You are really filling up your house! the bench makes a good display area. Your daughter got some nice things too. I have a friend in Virginia who collects the Home Interior ladies, I have seen them in person, nicely done. Wow the whole family made out! Thanks for sharing, I know it must have been a blast seeing all those things in all those yard sales! Wish I could go even just once. Hi Skyler, Thanks again for the MMF thread. Always fun to peek and see what everyone has to share. Yes, I can do the thread for you. Have a fun vacation. Martha, Again, you find the best things at the sales. Patience pays for sure. MR, Nice chairs and fabric too. I always love the cane look and how it can be dressed up or used in a casual space too. Cocok, Nice find on the baskets too. They look nice stacked and always functional. Lisa, You were a busy bee on that sale. My favs are the rolling pins since I have the one that belonged to DH grandmother. Will you display them? I'll play too. Finally found... a red one. Imagine the fun thrifting and gardening. ~Like sands through the hourglass ~So are the days of our lives ![]()
Thank you Mary Ruth...and it was dd that had the Blizzard. LOL some sort of strawberry chocolate something. Beau I will display the rolling pins. I have 3 now. I have a crock that I want to put a collection in. I think I need a couple more to make it pretty. Beau you have quite the find there...and I LOVE red. I am what I am because He is I AM!!!
Have a FUN trip Skyler! See you when you get back! Beau's Rose: WOW you really can go thrifting you can do with that! I see you can fit a few other gals in there too! Martha, the blue bowl looks like flow blue, nice. You are probably better off without the table if it was broken and highly prices. Something else is waiting just around the corner to jump in your back seat. MR, love how your chairs are turning out. Looks like you are going a little french. They will look fab with the new fabric. You always find different shaped furniture. Cocok, great baskets. I love old baskets and have a few myself. I do have to get rid of some though. Lisa, great finds. Everything will fit nicely with your new home. Nice shelves, rolling pins, etc. Love old carnival glass too. BR, hey, that's a huge find and will definetly be great for thrifting. I got this candle chandelier. The inlaws gave us their old metal gazebo. When we get it up next year, I will add this in the middle. $6.00 at the second hand store. ****Look at objects not only for what they are, but for what they could be, vg**** ![]()

also bought two of these lamps to go in my bedroom; however, hubby put them on the console in the livingroom when we got home and I also love them there. Now what? ****Look at objects not only for what they are, but for what they could be, vg**** ![]()

Nice finds everyone. Beau, I'll take one of those too! Cocok's post of the picnic baskets reminded me that I added to my collection of Redman/Redmon baskets last week. I found the top basket at the local thrift store for $3.00. If I had been willing to wait til Wed. at 6 p.m. it would have been $1.50. The other three baskets were each $4.00 at three different yard sales over the last two or three years. Two have stickers that say Redman -- then when that became po litic ly incorrect, the name was changed to Redmon. I store my winter clothing and extra linens in them. This message has been edited. I'm loving those picnic basket cocok and MLV. I've got several that I display in my kitchen. They just seem to draw me. Great storage too. VG I love those lamps. That color is just stunning. I am what I am because He is I AM!!!
Linderhof, I love the transferware and the blue and white bowl...beautiful. Mary Ruth, You will be our very own czar of chairs pretty soon...LOL! Cocok and MyLifeVacation1, I like your stacked baskets...pretty items that are practical as well...the best combination. Lisa Ann, You certainly founds lots of good items to add to your new house. I hope you post some pictures of your rooms as you get them decorated. Beau's Rose, That's a gorgeous looking truck. I wouldn't want to use it to go thrifting because sellers might overcharge if they saw that beauty...LOL. Victorian Girl, Your candle chandelier will look great in a gazebo. Will the gazebo primarily be for dining or lounging? Have a safe and enjoyable trip, Skyler.

Wow, fun thread todaY. Lots of great finds, the plate and bowl, the chairs, Lisa Ann too many to mention!! BR, you can haul lots of goodies in your find! VG, cool candlelier. What will you use to hold the candles? I can see lots of possibilities. The lamps are really pretty, you may need to do some more shopping to find lamps for the bedroom, LOL! MLV, great picnic baskets. I found one at the Habitat TS for $5.20 The label is Brexton, Made In England I also have a couple more items to share. CandyThis message has been edited. I found this cute elephant table at the ARC TS for $14.99. I tried to find info on it on the internet. I found one that was similar and had sold, but did not give the sales price. The story that went with it was the owner had bought it in Vi**et Na**m when he was stationed there in the 60's. His unit nicknamed it Buffie for: Big Ugly F***N Fragile Indian Elephant, as he moved it around wherever they went and had to use lots of packaging to keep it from breaking.
I also found this Garden Sign at a HL 80% off clearance. It is in my sun room. The mirror below it is made from a horse collar from my DGP's farm. I had this made back in the 70's. Great finds everyone, Candy
Wow -- what great finds -- the prize goes to Lisa Ann -- the most stuff for the least money!!!! Love the picnic baskets all -- I have one -- my grandmothers and I remember the fried chicken and deviled eggs that were always packed in there! Lovely lamps VG -- now you do have a quandry! Martha
My first time adding to the thread! I enjoy reading it every week ... Found at a garage sale for $10:
I'm thinking of painting it turquoise or aqua with glazing and using it as a nightstand. And from the side view:
Wow -- shadesofbleu -- what a great piece for $10 -- I see you're from Kansas -- I'm in the SE corner of the State -- where are you? Martha

Wowser! What a fantastic week for goodies. Thank you to everyone for sharing and it's nice to see some new names joining in the fun. Lisa Ann, what a haul! Thank you Beau's Rose for filling in for the next 3 weeks (I'l be back on Labor Day). Great looking truck...love the color. Thanks everyone for your good wishes for my vacation. I hope to be able to pop in, if our internet works. Until then, happy decorating

VG, I love that candle chandelier, I like that it has substance and will be heavy enough not to sway too much with light wind. Will be nice addition to your gazebo experience. Not that I am going French, for color of the chair will be darker than usually used in the French interiors. There is more of a mediteranian influence in this chair, that is why I went ahead and checked the chairs out, the scale is larger so it sits well for my 5' 6" frame. And the scale of height of the back being at 44" high makes a unique opportunity to do with a slip cover style. Love those turquoise lamps! I am sure wherever you put them, they will be awesome! MLV, Oh what a nice collection of baskets! I love the different patterns and textures. Gracie, No, I think Brittany Dog Mom has that title! I do not mind being in her shadow! lol I am learning a lot from watching her projects! Fearlessly forging ahead with redoing or altering just about everything in my house! I am just grateful for the strength and ability to be able do physically being able to do the work and have DH to help out. Christmas Candy, I like that picnic basket, nice with all the holders for the plates and silverware. Oh my what a name for that 'thing'! lol I had one that shape from Mexico. We went in a Winebego and were on a 6 week trip. I swear I could have named mine the same thing since we had to do so much to keep it from being harmed as we traveled and when a truck rammed into the back of the camper (large camper slept 8) While the damage was checked out, I ran to the place where the Elephant was stored to see if it survived, it did. Later, when I sold it to a friend at a yard sale, I remembered its history and how many times I moved it after we got it home. Mine was the 'traveling Gypsie Elephant' Mine was all white. You really know how to feminize things, I love the mirror! Shadesofbleu, I am glad you crossed over from reading to posting! WELCOME! I love the piece and to lighten it with paint will only make that piece more special. I hope you post photos of your finished project! And for $10! Great FIND! Lisa, thanks MLF, nice baskets. Gracie, I have to make a correction, it's a canopy not a gazebo. One with the metal sides and a canvas top. It has mosquito netting all around it. The actual gazebo is a dream of mine, someday, yep, that and a sunroom. CC, love your elephant. I had one in wicker at one time and I loved my little fella. Cute sign too. I will find some votive cups. I have some here that fit but they are on something else. I'm sure I will find more. I just looked at it and it is a partylite. Well, I just did a quick check and these sold, orginally, for $129.00. Think I got a great deal even without the mosaic ball and votive holders. Martha, thanks. I think I will end up putting them in the bedroom after all and try to find something in brown for the livingroom. Since I don't have anything brown on that end of the livingroom, I think I need to add some. My goal is to add some teal/turquoise in every room. Shades, are you kiddin me, $10.00? wow, great find. You know, lots of people don't like when wood is painted but I think it would look awesome in blue. It would also make a perfect night stand. MR, It has the caning and the french fabric, just said french to me. Whatever the style, they will look great. Not sure I'd want to cover them though. Just looked up this chandy and it originally sold for $129. Partylites and way over priced, which I why I don't attend any of their parties. Think I got a great deal. It is quite heavy too. http://www.worthpoint.com/wort...er-retired-rare-mint ****Look at objects not only for what they are, but for what they could be, vg****

VG I can see where you got French, lol I love the fabric (thought about the French words, but my first language was French till I was 10 so can't ignore that!) I love cane, it seems to have become a reoccurring material with me here in Florida, because it is all around us in all the furniture stores, thrift, antique shops, etc. Good ventilation is required in the warm climates. I was going to mention that the Turquoise drapery and the lamps might be too much of that one color on one side of the room, but I figured you would notice that. The thing is the lamps are a GREAT find and will enhance your home wherever you use them! Glad you got that Partylites chandy for what you paid for it! MR, I didn't realize you could speak french. I am half french, mom is fully french on both sides but never taught us. Dad was English so English is what was spoken. I'm married to a french man though, French is his first language but he speaks perfect English as well. ****Look at objects not only for what they are, but for what they could be, vg****

Yes Skyler, We are ALL happy, we found treasures this week! AND Skyler, I hope you have a GREAT vacation! And thanks again for doing this thread once a week, it sure is fun to look forward to! VG, Don't ask me to speak French! I have to go home for a few weeks, then it comes back, I tell my relatives to just speak French I pick up a lot of words and know what they are talking about. Then when my confidence is returned, then I speak it too. I speak English all the time. I have been in the US 55 yrs now, THIS is my home...English I my language now. Hi Martha, nice to meet you! I live near Wichita, in one of the suburbs. Thanks everyone for the encouragement! Painting it does seem extreme, but I think it will look whimsical a lovely turquoise color. I think I might need a turquoise lamp like victoriangirl's! Mary Ruth, I have been thinking about doing a chair similar to yours with that 70's cane back. I will anxious to see your finished product! Love the picnic baskets and all the other treasures this week!
Shadesofbleu, Do you have a picture of the chair? I have a bit more to do with finishing a table and chairs for my daughter, so it will be a little bit before I can get to the sewing machine, I am anxious to get to the project. I would love to see what you have in mind for your chair! Mary Ruth ![]() *****We don't see things as they are, we see things as WE are! ***** (Anaias Nin)***** http://pinterest.com/mary_ruth/

Shadesofbleu-- we're exactly due east in Fort Scott. About 3 hours I think. Martha
Mary Ruth, no I don't have the chair yet ... it sort of appeared to me in a dream. lol surely you've had that happen to you, no? I have to go out and find the chair ... Martha, my son almost went to Fort Scott to play football. I've been there a time or two, nice town!
Shadesofbleu, I have looked at chairs on CL and online for about 4 yrs or so, and this was the FIRST time I saw chairs like this! But if you keep searching, one will come up! Good luck with your search! Mary Ruth ![]() *****We don't see things as they are, we see things as WE are! ***** (Anaias Nin)***** http://pinterest.com/mary_ruth/
