Darn, these holidays always throw me off! Yep, forgot it was Monday so we're getting off to a late start. Happy holiday to all that have it off.
Please take a moment to share pictures or just tell us about any great finds you've encountered. Goodies can be old or new and we always love to hear prices.
This is another photo of the JCPenny, Pilgrim Hobnail Bedspread I found for $10.00. It seems a little too white for my room, but for $10.00, if I don't use it, someone else will. Mine has a bit of wear, but not bad. No holes or stains.
These are some of my favorite types of spreads. To me, they just say 'welcome"! Yours has some very pretty details. Great find and that price is unbeatable!
I have a matelassé spread on now. Boy, do they wash & wear well. I may put the Hobnail on in summer. They both remind me of my grandma's room & how she taught me to tuck the spread under the pillows.
I got some bed spreads on CL last year and the lady had one with a hole on one corner (she said was make by hooking over the metal part of the bedframe) she said I will give it to you since you mentioned you wanted to make pillows with material like this. I didn't want to cut a good piece, this way I have one for pillow covers!
Love this style of bedspread.

Wow Mary Ruth, that's cool about getting the spreads. Would love to see the pillows once you have them made. Hopefully you can share the pics.

I splurged a few years back and bought a matelasse cover -- loved the look of it, but I could not use it and sold it at a yard sale at a greatly reduced price. I found the cover very heavy, but not particularly warm.
I bought a few things at the last day of an estate sale -- 75% off -- which actually brought the prices down to just slightly below what they should have been on day one (IMHO).
I got a 14 inch high kitchen rabbit statue with chef's hat and an owl about the same size. My intention is to paint them, probably off white. Oh, and I got two sets of decorative screw-on wood bed knobs that I will work with to do the display candy jars paintlady posted a few weeks ago. I also got a small plastic carousel for spices, a roll of fishing line, a small white rag rug, two of those large exterior decorative Christmas bulbs (thus the fishing line) and two small pkgs. of clear Christmas lights (very small strings -- 20 lights each). All this for $6.50. I feel the $6.50 was a bargain, but the original marked prices on day one of $26.00 was excessive. This message has been edited. Last edited by: MyLifeVacation1,
Trying to get more involved in the boards. Love this thread so thanks Skyler. Love seeing everyones finds and read this faithfully each Monday.
Love the bedspread.
This is my find for this week. It is a couple months ago that I bought this at a store out in Amish country. We live near Liberty, KY which has lots of Amish stores. Love going there.
MyLifeVacation1, I'm always amazed at how much some people expect for their items. On the other hand, I've had people ask me for a discount on a 10-cent item when I've been the seller. It sounds like you found some good bargains that will be great bargains once you've transformed them.
CaraRose, I like your painting and I'm glad you are posting more. I think the boards are more fun when they are more active.
Limb, bleck.....stripping wallpaper I'm sure it will look great when you're finished.
Gracie, free shipping is always a good thing!
Mary Ruth, when I used to go to the flea markets, vendors would sell remnants reasonably priced for that very reason. I always wished I knew how to sew.
My Life Vacation, it sounds like you got some wonderful goodies at great prices. I've never been to an estate sale but they say the best prices are always on the last day. Nice haul.
Hi Cara, you're welcome and thanks for joining the party What a great picture. It has a sense of peace and calm to it. Truly beautiful, thanks for sharing with us.
Gracie, I agree that the boards are more fun when members are active.
Thanks everyone. I loved the picture the minute I laid eyes on it. Didn't get it the first time though. Went back a couple months later and it was still there. Now I need to come up with what I am going to use when I display it finally. LOL
lilsophie, I will post photos when I get to the 'sewing' part of my upgrades here.
MyLifeVacation, They sell fleese blankets now that are lightweight, I put one between our sheets and the top coverlet, so now we have warm covers without the weight! OH MY you got a LOT for $6.50!
Hi CaraRose, Good to see you! Nice picture and very peaceful. Your post says Davie, Fl!!! When I go to Fort Lauderdale and visit my daughter and son I will have to meet you somewhere! You are only about 3 hr drive south of me here in Florida!
Skyler, for sewing pillow covers it is like straight stitching! The only issue I have with that is that I tend to want to sew fast, so I have to remember to slow down, and sew at a medium pace and it will make straighter lines!
Before this thread moves on down into the second page... I wanted to thank Skyler for this great thread! Such a sweetie for keeping this going for us! I look forward to this thread each week! You made Monday's worth looking forward to!!!
