I love to look at all the wonderful finds that are posted. I have something I found at a local thrift store. It is a beautiful handquilted framed piece. I was looking for frames, and saw this one, it is handmade barnwood, then when I looked closer I saw the quilt piece. It was only $5. On the back was hand written the women's name that made the piece and the name of the quilt pattern (sunflower) and the name of her husband who made the frame for it. It is proudly hung on the wall in my hallway.

Hi 5bells and welcome! Sounds like you found a beautiful and very special find. I love goodies that have a story behind them and it sounds like yours definitely does. I think its previous owners would feel very lucky that someone found it that appreciates its history. Thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your new treasure!

Mine is a re-discovery. I didn't think we brought this with us, but it got packed in storage with the 'garage' stuff, so DH brought it to me this past week and said 'what will you do with this'? Grasscloth enough for 8' ht ceilings by about 20' of wall space. I immediately thought of texture for my Foyer area.

If I use it for the foyer, I will poly over it to protect it and make the wall 'dust-able' over the years. I can leave it natural to tie in a sisal rug that will be in the center of the living room right in full view of this wall, or can paint it white or the room color (pale aqua). My floor is going to be all brown woodgrain plank tiles.

Years ago in Florida here, designers loved to put up grass cloth only to paint over it with white or any color for the great texture on a feature wall.

Forgot to mention: It was FREE! Left over from a model staging in Virginia.

I call this my happy pillow. I wanted something cheerful to go on my white quilt for the summer.

Mary Ruth, love the idea of putting up the grasscloth in your foyer. My MIL had it on one wall in her family room and it looked terrific. It added so much texture. She also had a lot of other natural elements and a bit of a wildlife, jungle theme (not in a tacky way). For example, she had a zebra rug, elephant accessories, etc. Be sure to show us when you're finished.

VG, both your finds are terrific but I especially love your pillow. There's something wonderful about a pillow with a fresh, white background.

Hi, 5bells! Your find sounds wonderful. I'd love to see a picture.

Mary Ruth, Great find and kudos to your husband for actually bringing it to you and not just throwing it out...LOL!

Victorian Girl, I love the blue items you found and the pillow definitely says cheerful and happy.

VG,
Love that color vase, looks great with your 'stuff'!
And one can never get enough turquoise pillows! I like the white background.
I also LOVE the pillows next to it, I love their texture.

Picture shows where I want to install the grass cloth if I find the right paste to do it with. I want it to stay up once it is done.

Skyler,
I used to love the Jungle theme, but I live in Florida now, the jungle is outside! lol I love texture so this is one way to get it into the decor. No Elephants, but I am going to dab a bit of zebra here and there.

Graciepj,
I know, he could easily have done that! lol, but he is the one who brought it home to me in the first place when they were clearing out a warehouse and all going to Habitat for Humanity, he thought I could use it in my foyer in Virginia, which would have looked great, but we didn't have time before selling.

MaryRuth,
Hi to my FL neighbor. I had that same grass cloth wallpaper in my family room, when we first moved into this house 20 yrs ago. It does look nice with the light FL colors.

Graciepy,
I am going to take a picture of my framed quilt and have my friend help me get it on here. I would to show it.
Nice finds everyone.

Thanks everyone.

KG, not sure what I think of this table. It is unique. Did you buy it? thinking of buying it?

Thanks Lilsophie, yes she is definitely missed.

KG, I like the table with the right kind of decor. It does look a little short though.

It is something DH came up with. I was thinking I would like a clunky end table like it as I like "different".

KG,
Oh how darling! He did a great job with that set!
Well at a larger scale, the wood would have to be thicker to recreate that 'woodsy' furniture, but what an idea to try out. He is talented and it is so nice when hubbies contribute to the furnishings in the home!
