Happy Thanksgiving week....I'm sure it will be a busy one!

I hope everyone will take a moment and join in the fun of sharing treasures. Please share pictures or just tell us about recent or favorite finds. Prices are fun to hear too.

No goodies for me so I'll just enjoy yours. Anyone going to Black Friday to get some treasures?

I went to a GREAT Estate Sale Saturday -- and brought home treasures --

This almost 100 year old bread tray that celebrates a 25th wedding anniversary -- love the engraving!

And this chop plate -- I don't know why chops can't be placed on platters but in Victorian times and even into the 20s and 30s, they were placed on large round plates -- it's old and blue and white!

Two old pictures of Venice -- signed -- where we are going in February -- will save me from bringing them home! Need frames but that should be no problem -- where am I going to put them -- don't know!

A blue and white egg coddler. I have gotten over the idea that I need six or eight or twelve of EVERYTHING. I am only going to coddle eggs for Jim and I -- NO ONE ELSE (as I'm not going to serve any guests grapefruit) so . . . I had one blue and white one and two others -- now I have two blue and white ones -- next up on the breakfast menu tomorrow -- coddled eggs!

Oh, yeah and I didn't even spend $50 for all my treasures!

Martha

BTW, I didn't even LOOK in the linen room -- my drawers are really full!

Linderhof, I think we should trade houses. You can start shopping to fill all of my closets and drawers with your wonderful finds and I could live in your house and enjoy what you've already found. Seriously, all of the blue and white finds are gorgeous and I love the bread tray.

I know what you mean about the numbers. I will only buy things in a set of eight. Why, oh why, are things sold in sets of six? Useless to me as I have a round to square table so I can't even make the host settings different to use six.

Linderhof,
You find the most wonderful treasures!
I love the look of the blue and white!
It would not go with anything in my home, but I know it will be beautiful in yours!

I found some flatware on E**bay that I have been wanting for quite some time. I had to wait until there were some auctions in my price range, but found this service for 12 with 8 serving pieces on a Buy It Now. It came in the blue silversmith cloth case in the photo, and appeared to have never been used! I also won another 20 pc. set that was way less than most of the 20 pc. sets on the site, so I now have a service for 16 with serving pieces.

I just used 8 of the settings for my annual ladies luncheon at my chur*ch so they aren't back in the case yet.

I will be using it for my Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas morning brunch! Woohoo!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Martha -- your blue and white karma is going strong. I'm mad about blue & white, but DH is definitely not a fan. So, I'll have to get my thrills vicariously through MM/FF.

Candy, what delightful flatware. Normally, I am not a fan of holiday themed items, but in this case, I must make an exception. Enjoy.

WOW!!! Love everything- my two favorite things- blue/white and chr is t mas. I would put the prints from Venice in my bathroom with some other things that you pick up while you are there, then everyone who comes to visit can see them when they use the bathroom.

What are coddled eggs? I may know them by another name, have no idea.

Lovely finds! I really like the pillows...and such a DEAL!

I actually found a couple of prints I really like at Goodwill. And for only $6.96 each.I am not fond of the frames so I may paint them or maybe change them. These will go in my black bedroom. Here's the first one.

Debi - very pretty prints. Frames can easily be changed out!

gmvj -- you're right -- bathrooms are great places to hang pictures. Our upstairs bath is full of engravings, charcoals and etchings (and one oil) that we've bought of places we've been. It surrounds us with memories (and our guests get to see it too!)

Coddled eggs -- you put the egg in the cup, add butter salt and pepper -- put the lid on and steam until they're of your liking. Very old fashioned and very British! And very yummy!

Great Finds Evryone!

Martha, It's almost like those beautiful finds are sitting there waiting for you to come along to pick them. Enjoy your treasures.

CCandy, As they say, "Patience pays". Glad you were able to secure them.

Debicga, Love the b/w prints. Didn't you paint the BR black a while back?

I have that exact same print. The frame mine came with is espresso colored and doesn't have that gold inner rim on the frame. The picture looks much better with a darker frame. Were you considering a black colored frame?

BR...yes I did but I haven't put the finishing touches on yet.

Tryin...I probably won't do black since they will go on black walls. I'm thinking maybe silver since I am not a fan of gold. Or I might change the matting to a darker color and do a white frame.

Is there something going on or is it I that has a problem? I am logged in and can't see the pictures.
Edited: gremlins must be at it again. Now I can see.
Martha your finds, esp the blue dishes, give me great envy and a desire to change my color scheme to incorporate blue.

Thanks Skyler for the wonderful MMF's thread!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I do not have any finds since we have had company over and more to come. In Florida most of our Northern family and friends migrate to the warmer climate for vacations!

Linderhof,
What beautiful finds! My goodness you know how to be at the right place at the right time for those treasures!
It is good to know your style and then when the pieces appear it is like they are saying 'take me home'!

Loving those needlepoint pillows! They look like they were 'made' for your house!

Venice prints are so detailed and ready for framing! How wonderful to find them now before your fabulous trip there!
I looked up Coddled egg:
"In cooking, coddled eggs are gently or lightly cooked eggs. They can be partially cooked, mostly cooked, or hardly cooked at all (as in the eggs used to make Caesar salad dressing, which are only slightly thickened for a thicker end-product). Poached eggs are eggs that, arguably, are coddled in a very specific way: they are very gently cooked, in simmering water that is just below boiling point."
Interesting, I don't remember ever eating that, though I did put raw eggs in our protein shakes through to the 1970's. I DO love poaced eggs so I guess this would save a step and serve it already in its own bowl!

Christmas Candy,
How special to have a two-occasion set of tableware! One use for Christmas season and the other.. your birthday celebration!

debicga,
What nice prints! I hope you post photos of them put up on that black wall, sounds interesting!

momaspoon,
I hope that your viewing photos problem is taken care of by now!
They did a lot of maintenance a few days ago and shut down the board about 4 hrs.

Thanks MR -- yes, it does make it easier when one goes to sales . . . it's when I decide to veer from my style that I get in trouble because I see something in a magazine or blog and like that "look". Those pieces usually get relegated to the attic quickly. Usually grateful, too, that I've not spent big bucks on them!

Strings, the flatware is the gold HollyBerry pattern sold by JCP, I think in the 90's.

I have looked for it at antique malls, Crgslst, and in the thrift stores with no luck, so finally gave in and bought it on E**bay.
It looked quite lovely at my ladies luncheon with the china I had bought at GdWl. LOL

Happy Thanksgiving everybody,
Candy

Very festive, Candy. I can't wait to see your holiday table settings.

Nice prints, Debicga. Those lend themselves to lots of different framing options.

Hi All, Happy Thanksgiving. I know it's not Monday but I just started painting my living room using B.M. Aura matte finish wall paint. On sale it was $53.99 per gallon which seems like a lot. I have to say the dark charcoal gray we chose is going on beautifully without any primer at all. The one wall has a single coat, and if I weren't so finicky it would be fine as is. The paint is covering a lot of wall. It is starting to seem like a bargain.

I know I sound like I'm a spokes person, but I had to share my experience. Just in case someone here was on the fence about spending that kind of money on paint.
