tack strip question.... Sign In/Join

I'm pulling up bedroom carpet and thinking of going with laminate. There is a slim chance I may replace the carpet. Should I leave the tack strips for now or would new carpet require new tack strips? Anyone know?

When we had carpeting replaced a couple years ago, the installers used the old tack strips. So I'd leave them until you decide.

Remove the tack strip! Most carpet installers expect to replace it and it costs very little to add later. They carry boxes of it in their trucks all the time. Besides, the tacks are sharp and you could hurt yourself on them.

You need to tell the installers to save them, in case it's not their norm. Takes extra effort to work carefully to save.
