I just bought a big one to go on my dining table and I'm looking forward to decorating with it seasonally. I would love to see pictures of yours decorated seasonally. I am what I am because He is I AM!!!

I did have one, Lisa Ann up until about a month ago when I gave it to my DD. Mine was made (I think) by my paternal grandfather (1859 - 1918) the son of Irish immigrants for his wife, the daughter of German immigrants. They had 13 children of whom my dad was the youngest. My grandfather was a cabinet maker and someone must have told me this was a dough box. It is very large and I never used it on a table. Kept it under a table in the guest room and kept magazines in it. ![]()

Wow that is a huge dough box. Don't think I have ever seen one so big. I love that is has the history to go along with it. I bought one in KY. It isn't a vintage one but it was made by the people that own the shop. Here is a picture. I have a small one too that my kids bought me for Mother's Day. It is old and came from one of the European countries. I just love the look of them. I am what I am because He is I AM!!!

That dough bowl is going to be fun, Lisa Ann. I have a big one in my family room. I searched through my photos and can't find some that I wanted to share, but I did find one. I have a huge collection of Christmas books that I decorate with at Christmas, and one year I used the bowl (I call mine a trug) to hold some of the smaller books. Really simple. I have also piled big Christmas balls in it, with greens. I have filled mine with pumpkins in the fall, and even potted flowers in the spring. Can't wait to see what you do. I hope you share!

Cocock that is neat and I like it with the books in it. I'll share pics when I decorate it up for fall. That won't be until September though. In the mean time I'm just playing around with some ideas. I've searched a bit online too. Hoping more will share if they have one. I am what I am because He is I AM!!!

Lisa Ann, this was my grandmother's bread tray. I've had an arrangement in it for quite a while but am ready to change it. I like Cocok's and Froo Froo's ideas. LOS, I've never seen a dough box. What a wonderful piece of history ![]()

Here it is without the arrangement. ![]()

Lisa, I will watch for your post when you decorate that bowl. We have a local place that has large ones so I have my radar up. Imagine the holiday decorating that could go in there too. ~Like sands through the hourglass ~So are the days of our lives

Froo thank you for all the suggestions. This is going to be fun. LOL Georgia Peach that is pretty and I love the history. Beau I will post pictures. I just love the look of them and the fact there are so many looks a person can get for the different seasons and holidays just makes them that much more appealing to me. My small bowl is on my hoosier cabinet with some faux eggs in it. I am what I am because He is I AM!!!

Oh those all look so nice! I kept watching one at the Flea hoping the price would drop, but it never did and now it is gone
