FINALLY!!!! I'll be starting some exciting projects today! I was so excited, I couldn't wait until they were already started and pics to post - which many of you know me and know without a doubt, I'll be posting pics!!!

Decided on a color for the exterior of the house! Yep! After 5 yrs of debating, I made a decision. Well...I should say I found a color I am testing on the shed today to see how it'll look! My housemate, Cyn, picked up a gal as she was going into town. She said when they did the paint dot on the can, there were 4-5 people who saw it and said they LOVED it!

It's Glidden's Antique Purple

Yep! Going with a dusty purple on this Victorian cottage!!!

Also going to do the kitchen walls in the same color and all the trim and cupboards in Crisp Linen White I have some fabric with the colors in it and will be covering either my Parson chairs or the seat cushions on some other chairs. Haven't decided yet. Hope to start that project tomorrow. I'll post pics!

So, that's it for now. I am really looking forward to sharing again!!!

Tried to copy the color swatches from Glidden's site but it won't let me save the color swatch for some reason.

Looking forward to seeing another wonderful 'Tammy project'.

Here's Glidden Antique Purple. The swatch on the left is from Glidden's site, the one on the right from Home Depot. I know colors are not always true on monitors from different sites but these give an idea of what the color may be. I think it will be very pretty, of course I love purples. What color exterior trim are you using? More than one?

LOVE the color and can't wait to see! What an elegant color, and with your house, it will be awesome!

I think that is a great color for a kitchen, because... I had that color way back 30 yrs ago in a Victorian house I lived in! I bought that background color on a pale plaid wallpaper and put it up in the kitchen eating area. Loved the peaceful feeling it had.

Can't wait to see photos and so nice to look for posts of yours! Smile

Good Morning Ladies!!! So sorry for not posting more yesterday - it was a long day and had a few snafus too!

I headed out outside to paint the shed. Well, I can't get the water turned on behind the spigot. Called John and discovered it is at least inside the crawl space about 3'. He could reach it with his long arm but not I!! I need the hose in order to wash down & rinse the shed. Plus looking at the weather, it was suppose to rain. SOOO...decided what the heck, I'll just put it on the house and see what happens!!

Well, I painted the first strip of clapboard and noticed it was looking different than I imagined. The problem is that it is coming out BLUE!!! I thought maybe it'll look right after the 2nd coat so I continued on. I painted maybe 6 pieces of clapboard when I got a call that I had to go into town (35 mi away) and my housemate was on her way to pick me up as my car has been in the shop since Monday. So, I packed everything up and headed into town.

While in town, I stopped at Home Depot to get the kitchen paint. The girl colormatched the Glidden color in the Behr paint which also has the primer in it. Well...The color was also coming out blue. We matched it to the paint dripping I had on my hand and it was the same. Decided to mix the paint with the Glidden paint but couldn't get it with the primer in it - they didn't have it. The color came out better but not like the paint sample card. And for exterior, not available with primer either. BUMMER but what can ya do???

Came back to the house - it was starting to rain. Will move on to clearing out the kitchen. I had the paint sample up on the wall and when I went to see how the stirrer stick matched to that color sample, I discovered I MADE A HUGE MISTAKE!!! The color sample on the wall WASN'T Antique Purple but Dolphin Gray!!! The Antique Purple would have made the kitchen look like one giant grape!!!! I couldn't believe I made such a mistake! I called Cyn saying "Houston, we have a problem!!"

One her way back from work, she stopped at Walmart and had the paint mixed in the right color - in the Glidden paint with the primer already in it and it was $12 less a gal than HD Glidden paint without the primer!!! Holy Moly!!! And the color was dead on!!! So, will be going to Walmart for the rest. It's also a lot closer to the house than HD. One problem down!

Christie came over after she got off of work. She can see some purple but agreed it went towards blue. She is going to see if she can colormatch it better for me. If not, I'll get that also had Walmart.

It took 8 hours to empty out the kitchen! That included taking down window treatment hardware, hooks, screws for hanging things on the wall, removing the shelf above the sink (which also brought the temporary paneling down with it!)and bad sections of ceiling. The kitchen is ready to have the ceiling scraped. Once that is done, then we can start painting.

Well, time to get my butt in gear! I have a feeling it's going to be another long day. I'll be back!

Oh, decided I can use the boo-boo paint and the other gal of paint as the first coat on the shed and the house. So, no lose of money there.

DIY'ers sure pay their dues!

I know what days like that feel like, had a few myself! The worst is when you want to start or continue and keep hitting walls...

It sounds like you are a good problem solver, and you don't let it get to you!

I am familiar with Dolphin Gray (it is blue-gray) my daughter had one of those samples for the color of her base cabinets in her kitchen. We chose not to go that direction because she was not trying to introduce blues.

Can't wait to see pictures!

I think I've been through that same color spectrum when doing over my DD's room into a guest room...I wanted a calm "dusky twilight blue-gray-purple" and had the hardest time! I sampled close to ten on the walls I think, and Dolphin Gray was one of them. Every wall looked different in different light (and still does) but I finally settled on SW "Mysterious Mauve" - photos here http://s112.photobucket.com/al...tage%20guest%20room/

I think if you get it right, it will look fantastic! Good luck!

Its been so long since you've posted that I've lost track. I assume with Christy coming over that you are still in Tennessee. Are you still planning on moving to Arkansas?

SO good to see you posting again. We've missed you terribly!!!
