Is it a bad idea to hang a towel rack above the toilet? Previously it was on the wider wall but off centered because of the tissue holder. I have some wall decor i want to hang on the wider wall but will make adjustments if this is a bad idea. Thanks. Please respond befor Hubby finish the painting. This message has been edited. This would be the rack for bath towels? So, you would have to hang it pretty high. I see no reason why it couldn't work other than being a little awkward to reach.
Another option might be to put shelves above the toilet and put folded clean towels there, but that wouldn't give you any place to hang used towels.
I agree that I don't see a problem with it - I have towel racks above the toilet in both my guest baths (not in the master because there is a window above the toilet). Some people have a problem with what they call "germ spray" or something like that, from the toilets. I guess that's an individual phobia that I don't share.
I don't think so, how about something like this.
(This bathroom was someone's here on the board. I can't remember her screen name. But I love her bathroom. Maybe she will see it, and give us a heads up. This message has been edited. Last edited by: lilsophie,
Hope we come up with name as I remember that bath and loved the tiles around mirror. Need details on how to do it.
As far as towels over toilet I have no problem with them hung there, esp since ms hospitality was talking about bath, not hand towels.
This is my guest bath and the towels are decorative towels which will probably never be used. we hardly have overnight guest. I like your options a lot and thanks a lot.
Thanks; this really gives me the assurance to go ahead.
Wow, this bathroom is set up exactly like mine. I love what they did to the mirror. I'll post pics when its completed. Thanks for sharing this with me..
Thanks mamaspoon. I would love to know the details on how to do this also.
I remember her saying at time she did. She gave instructions, but I can't remember how. I sure wish I could remember her screen name.
Oh you know what. I think she used the tiles that had the sticky back, and stuck them on. Something like that. It's coming back to me. lolThis message has been edited. Last edited by: lilsophie,
Keep thinking lilsophie. I went and looked at the mirror in the bathroom and i want have room around the edges of either rooms for the tiles. So dissapointed. What a great idea for a mirror.
She put the tiles on TOP of the mirror.
Their's no problem putting a towel rack above the toilet but just see to it that you will not bump your head on it when you stand up from the toilet.

Mshospitality, I have a suggestion. I always try to mount toilet paper holders on the side of the cabinet next to the toilet. That way they are handy, but tucked out of view. This leaves the wall open for some sort of decorative art or etc. No reason to interrupt a beautiful sight line with a toilet paper holder.
I think I'm confused. Do you mean a towel rack to hold a towel when you get out of the shower? Is the shower to the right of the first pic?
If so, I would think you'd want the towel close to the tub?
My TP holder is in the same place as yours and I have a towel holder in that same spot to the right, under the window. I think it looks okay. Maybe not? Now I'm going to have to go look again.
I am not much help on this but just want to say I think it is a terrific idea to put the sticky tiles on the mirror. The house we moved into has a huge mirror with no frame in the master bathroom. The bottom of the mirror has black streaks, like the finish came off there. We were thinking of cutting wood and glueing it on but I think the tile would work better. Thanks to whoever suggested it.

check out a towel caddy...it's a tension pole that holds 4 towels...
found one on amazon on sale but of course can't seem to c/p
You are absolutely right. That toilet paper holder has to be moved. It's the first thing i see now when i go in there. Thanks for making me see that. Now I have to put Hubby back to work. He's gonna be so mad. He's finished with the painting. He may not move it.
Thanks sjf. I'll look into that.I may be able to use it behind the door.
Post pics when finished.
Thanks WWanda. the towel rack was originally on the right side of the toilet, off centered on the wall.It was a bit too high on the wall to avoid the toilet paper holder. The bathroom is small enough to reach the towels. This is my guest bath and the towels will mostly be used for decoration.I'm going to look closely at which option will work best.
Thanks.The clearance is good.
