Morning Skyler and All.. I wanted to show ya'll the pumpkins I made for this display.. I also found some ceramic piggies at a local shop. I live 7 miles from Lexington, NC and we are the BarBeQue capital of the world the BBQ festival was this past weekend and folks arrive from all over the country to attend. For months before the festival many of the stores in town have HUGE plaster pigs displayed and it never fails to make folks smile as they ride through or shop.. ![]()

Sonny, that is a beautiful display!!! Are the pumpkins covered in old sweaters? The pigs are sooo cute!!!!
|
thanks so much Grapefruit.. yes I made them from an old sweater I messed up by washing it,, and just twine wrapped around the top area as the stem. They were fun to make and a cheap project too, plus I didnt have to throw the sweater away

What a gorgeous display Sonny. Love the piggies! And how creative to use an old sweater. I enjoyed viewing.

Those pumpkins are some of the best I've seen. I love the twine stems. Great job, Sonny!

thanks so much Cara Rose and Gracie.. I didnt realize how fuzzy that pic was lol here's a slightly better one.. I wont take up space here but if anyone would like to make some just Google- sweater pumpkins and there are lots of great tutorials.. also any fabric you like or that would go with your personal decor, is fine to use also.. thanks again. ![]()

I agree with Gracie! Those ARE some of the best pumpkins I've ever seen. Great idea and great work Sonny. I love how you have them displayed too.

Sonny love your color combos. I've spied a chair on the right in your pic -- tan seat, painted white -- I have a side chair I am considering painting white. It's currently poly'd wood. I bought this original Robert Cox oil at a local antique shop (basement junk room) this weekend. $5. I had to refresh the frame with Old English and touch up two chips on the flowers with my acrylic paints and it is just right for my bedroom. The painting has no special value that I can tell so "fixing it" on my own seemed ok.This message has been edited. Last edited by: MyLifeVacation1, ![]()

Sonny, I've seen some of those pigs at Homesense this year. Thought they were so cute. Love your sweater pumpkins too. MLV, great painting. I saw this santa at Homesense and it jumped right into my arms. I tried to put it back but he insisted on coming home with me By the way, I have no idea why the tag says 6 ft garland, wrong tag I take it.This message has been edited. The daughter wanted to know if they were getting ribbons on their necks and sticking around for the Christmas holidays .. oh yea Babe- that adorable lil Santa would have jumped right in my cart too.. he is too sweet. I need to make a homegoods run and see whats available here..

Sonny, Nice work on the pumpkins MLV, Nice to have an oil painting, I think 'fixing it' and the Old English trick make it special for you. VG, I love the old style Santa, the coloring on him is wonderful! Goes with your house wonderfully! As for ME: I got this Queen sized headboard for the front Guest room (have 2). It is faux leather, brand new never used for $75 on CL last week. This took 1 thing OFF the To-Do list for DH! LOL then I thought, why sell the antique headboard and footboard he was going to fix... and turn that into a bench for the window area? LOL Us DIY'ers have fists of steel when holding onto our treasures! LOL This is the CL ad photo. It is 63" wide (bed is 60" wide, so it is nice to see a bit of the headboard on either side of the bed. And it is 53" tall, nice height, shows well above the pillows! It is soft, and cushy, great for sitting up in bed to read. It is 5" thick and curves back to 6" at the top, so it has a sleigh bed feel. Does not pull the bed away from the wall as much as my sleigh bed does in the Master bedroom. I like not having a footboard in the guest room because that room is not as deep as the master, so it saves space. Headboard still had manufacturer's tag on the back. Not highend, but well made from http://iwantcmi.com/new/about the guy got it from Georgia before moving down, but he said had no room for it here in Florida. Since is it faux leather, I plan to alter the look with slip covers (in the summer) to help it last longer (the finish). Since it is a guest room, it won't get a lot of use. This message has been edited. Nice job of restoration, MyLifeVacation1. Charming Santa, Victorian Girl. I think he will fit into your decor perfectly. Mary Ruth, you found a very good value and the shape is perfect for a slip cover if you want to add one to change up the look. I picked up my new lamp shades today. I bought some Oriental looking lamps last year. They came with a large round shade that was really too deep for my buffet. When I found a lamp repair place to make new shades for some vintage lamps I own, I saw that they also had some pagoda shaped shades that were rectangular instead of round...perfect for lamps atop a shallow buffet. The new shades don't make a big change visually, but they allow me to move the lamps back toward the wall so that they are centered on the depth of the buffet.

Gracie, I hope you can post pics of the new lamp shades! Mary Ruth ![]() *****We don't see things as they are, we see things as WE are! ***** (Anaias Nin)***** http://pinterest.com/mary_ruth/

Oh, they are nothing worth posting, MaryRuth, just one of those things that people like us take pleasure in because they replaced something that didn't work quite right.

OK, upgrades I call them! Mary Ruth ![]() *****We don't see things as they are, we see things as WE are! ***** (Anaias Nin)***** http://pinterest.com/mary_ruth/
