Does anyone have inspiration pics to share showing a plain lampshade decorated for Christmas? If no pics, then maybe some ideas of what an be done? I usually need a visual, but any help would be much appreciated!!

This is what I did for a Thanksgiving/Fall lampshade. I cut out leaf shapes from book pages and attached them to the underside of the lampshade with a small piece of double sided tape. You cannot see them when the light is off. You could do the same with stars, snowflakes, bells, etc. Just a thought. ETA: Your public library probably has Christmas die cuts to make designs from. Easy peezy. Wouldn't reindeer be cute? Or holly? Or bows? This message has been edited. Last edited by: MyLifeVacation1, ![]()

I did this once for a party. I brought my buffet lamps into my kitchen to go on either side of by island, and I tied a fat red ribbon vertically onto the shade, and then wired a bit of holly onto the bow. It was fun. Afterwards I just untied the bow and things were back to normal with no damage to the silk shades.

They are both fabulous ideas!!!

Those are two very cute ideas! (Intend to copy both of them!) this is what I did one year for my d.r. chandelier. the "shades" are just circles of fabric that fit over the regular shades. they are trimmed with beaded fringe. ![]()

Wow, these really ARE great ideas. You folks are so creative. Hmmmm, it appears I've been neglecting my lampshades when decorating for the holidays

Tie ribbons and add seasonal pics or a pinecone or oranments to the finial much like cocok illustrated so well. When I was a child, my dad covered my bedroom lampshade in foil and perferated it to create starry lights. You can obtain florist foil in various colors. White doileys or paper cake doileys can act as snowflakes when adhered to a darker shade. Glue bits of costume jewelry as a sparkly border to a shade. Mini stars can also be adhered for a different holiday adornment. Apply sheets of Christmas music (tea stained perhaps) or the faces of Christmas cards or vintage tags around a shade collage style. Modge podge could be the glue used. Use Christmas or wintery stencil patterns to create a one of a kind seasonal shade. Here, a tree was fashioned from stripped shades: http://foreverdecorating.blogs...2011-shade-tree.html Below, a simple garland and glittery butterfly add a festive touch for Christmas tho the idea is easily adaptable for other seasons/holidays too: ![]()

Those fortunate enough to own a Cricut machine can whip up this lampshade adornment. Others might replicate it via laser cut holiday garlands. https://www.cricut.com/project.../Christmas-Lampshade

Although this DIY example features off season flowers, it can definitely be adapted to wintery blossoms like poinsettias w/ smaller roses. Sparking your imagination. http://howtonestforless.com/20...ellished-lamp-shade/

Froo, what is a circuit machine? sounds like something DD could use when working on costumes for school plays.

Cricut are pricy and sold in most craft chains like Micheals. Scrapbookers especially love them. They even have these machines for cake decorating. Do a google or go to craft store web sites to learn about these versatile machines. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Froo Froo,
