An ordinary day Sign In/Join

Good morning!
Just a quick update: although DH has been back at work for some time and I have been in and out if my classroom, getting things ready, yesterday was my first official full day back at work. Our routine was so normal! DH came home, fixed his own lunch, walked the dogs and returned to work. After work I fixed dinner, then headed out the door to a zumba class. I know it doesn't sound exciting, but yesterday's ordinary was a day of celebration for us. We have learned to embrace and appreciate the every day routines.

Make today a glorious one!

Normal takes on a new appreciation for you and DH after the events of the last several months. Normal is good and never to be taken for granted again. Now you can devote your attention to watching for bears around your property.

How incredibly wonderful!

Taking JOY in ordinary tasks is such a spiritual experience! Makes one really appreciate just being.
We are doing same...sharing the joys

So HAPPY for you! So very happy!

And Zumba class! what a lady!

Dear Mary Ann, I think all of us, your loving HGTV friends, delight in hearing an appreciation of "ordinary" and what a blessing it is in all our lives. You all have been truly tested in the past year and how wonderful to know that you have not been found wanting.

You are a real living embodiment of one of my DH's favorite poems by Emily Dickinson:

(1176)

by Emily Dickinson

We never know how high we are
Till we are called to rise;
And then, if we are true to plan,
Our statures touch the skies—

I'm sure that you will never look at life in the same way after as you did before and stressful, worrisome and difficult as that has been, you all have also been given a gift that will never leave you. Blessings on you all.

Your normal day brought tears to my eyes. I'm so thankful that you are experiencing normal again.

Yes, sometimes it takes extraordinary or tragic circumstances to show us how wonderful 'ordinary' can be. Good to be thankful for even the small positive occurrences in our lives.

Nice to hear your routines are back to 'normal'.

Thank you, Indexlady! Mamaspoon, thanks! We haven't seen any bears for almost a year. I keep my eyes open all the time, though! MaryRuth, I whole heartedly agree! I have always considered myself to be grateful and appreciative, but my experiences have become enhanced.

BR, every day is a gift! Sonny, I'm very happy our news makes you smile. I am smiling a lot these days. The other day, someone told me that I look wonderful. My response was that I am happy.

Big Grin WWanda! Emily, I am touched. That is a beautiful poem.
It is true that our lens of the world has changed. As tragic as events have been, we have been bles$Ed with so many gifts.

Graciejp, I learned some things about tears. When the first tear is from the right eye, it is because of sadness. The first tear from the left eye is happiness. Interesting that has seemed to hold true for me.

Thank you Lucky and SkinnyBelink, we are reveling in the every day moments of living. I never saw the true beauty in the mundane before.

Congratulations on ordinary/normal!!! I truly relate; years ago when I was diagnosed w/cancer, I remember just 'wanting to be normal'. It did happen and I'm very thankful.

May things stay ordinary/normal for you both!!!

Hugs...
