As some of you know, we took on the job of moving our front door & windows around so we could rearrange furniture. We are now both exhausted and ready for it to be over. The whole "move" lasted a day. We thought it would take a good weekend! Things were going so good. THEN... we had paint peeling problems, had to rehang over existing sheetrock, meaning all the crown mold, base and everything had to be removed. Then we went to pick up our carpet after being told that had it, and was then told it was discontinued, after having to drive 40 miles in something that gets 8 miles to the gallon (diesel ay $4.10 gallon) .Lowe's is so stupid Then we go to Home Depot to get our new lever style interior door knobs. They give us one box of brass, and one of satin nickel.. They were both suppossed to be brass!!!
The next day we had to drive To Huntsville, in the same bad fuel mileage vehicle at 60 miles each way to get the carpet we needed! We laid it last night
The room is painted in SW RESTRAINED GOLD, Ceiling is SW Ivory (off same card) Trim is Cookie Crumb from Lowe's .
We in all, moved door & windows, installed new shutters & porch light, reapinted trim walls & ceiling, (are installing new lever style door handles) stained door In Cherry color, put in new carpet, added more recessed lighting .
I still have to get some of the crown mold back up, (1) more coat on door and windows, dor handles installed, cabinets painted, and carpet seam strips put down.. But all in all. IT'S LIVEABLE AGAIN!
I had my new sofa picked out! The lady gave me the wrong depth dimensions, now I'm back to square one, because it won't fit!
Thanks always! I didn't think I would like the lighter paint, but I love it. I guess I'll keep him I've had him 11 years. He did get a motorcycle outta this though, but I got one too. Maybe since this is done (almost) we can actually go out and ride them this weekend! I need a break!
THANKS ALL!!! I REALLY appreciate all the help & wonderful ideas you all had on this project.
I hope this weekend to go furniture shopping, I 've got to get up some window treatments. Its 88 here, and that sun pouring in is HOT!!
I am thinking anout a sofa type table on the wall where you come in the door. I finally have room! It would be great to have somewhere to put my keys, cell, etc! The room seems so much bigger now! If you all have any decor ideas throw em this way!!
Just wanted to say how much brighter and open the rooms look now with the gold paint on the walls. And the front entrance to the side does make better sense. It keeps the foot traffic flow out of your living room. You and your DH have done some nice work!
You two make a wonderful team! It really is a huge improvement and big update. Love the new color. It's rich and yummy. Have fun shopping for the rest of your goodies!
Rhonda: Thats really pretty! I like the metal & wood! My kitchen table inslate, metal, and wood. My Lr tables are wood & metal. I'm going to try & pick out a sofa and loveseat/or chair and then make some other pieces fit
WOW! You DID do a lot of work and as someone else said, you don't mess around! It is absolutely beautiful and it looks like you have a whole new, much bigger space. It is so bright and cheerful. I love the colors and your door is gorgeous. Are you going to rehang your curtains? I think they are very pretty and would look great with your wall color. What color is your new sofa going to be?
Could we see some exterior before and afters??? Congratulations on a job well done.
