Thinking about this rug for the LR with the couch in the following post. Do any of the chairs match this rug? I know the pics are small (enlarging them distorts the colors anyhow) but the rug has greens/aqua/creams in it. I listed the chairs from 1-4 in the order I would choose if I had to rely solely upon my own opinion. This message has been edited. Last edited by: mountainbeach,
I'm not too talented a decorator but first off these chairs look more like love seats.
1) looks to yellow with the rug 2) seems to have too much yellow in it 3) MY CHOICE 4) totally out of the running.
I think the couch and rug look FABULOUS together. I probably would buy chairs to match the couch and then buy an aqua print to use as pillows and maybe solid aqua drapes. Perhaps a coordinating aqua print (to the pillows) to use as the seat cover on any occasional chairs.
That's just my 2 cents. I don't expect anyone to agree with me.
Number three is the safest choice. It depends on whether you want to be safe or not.
Number one could work because the scale is different enough from the rug. If you are able, bring home a swatch of the floral fabric to see how the colours blend. It is not necessary to match each and every colour in the rug but there should be a few in common.
I agree with SBK...3 is definitely the safest one. I like #4 but only if you want a mix of traditional with more contemporary. I don't care for #2 as it seems tome that it would be suited for a sunroom or beachy decor.

Thanks everyone, I really like #1 and #3. I could always get pillows made in #1 fabric if I really love it with the rug. Then if the time comes that I look at them and say to myself "WTH, was I thinking?"...easy peasy, hide them away somewhere. This message has been edited. Last edited by: mountainbeach,
If # one is your favorite, why are you compromising with # three? I agree with SBK that # three is safe. I don't want to parse her words but to me that is a diplomatic way of saying it's predictable. One might even say boring.
Go with your gut. You're basing an expensive decision on the opinions of a handful of people who have only seen the pictures online.
Mountainbeach, you should choose the chairs which most appeal to you as you are the one who will enjoy them, not others. If they were going in my home, I would like the first chairs the best too.
When I narrowed the choices to these 4 chairs, my first pick was #3, Why??? because it was "safe" and "predictable". I stay on the safe side with all my decor. If I choose a print for a room, it's that 1 print only, everything else are solids. Colors I use are neutrals, because their "safe". Then I thought, if I'm ever going to go "wild" I better do it now, and that moved my #1 choice to it's current spot. I ask for opinions because I don't want to make a costly mistake (as in: #2 & #4, I think we all agree they're not even in the running at this point) At least I know that #1 IS an option and I'm moving forward in the sorta "right" direction. Now to decide if I want to let out the inner "wild-woman" in myself or stay safe with pillows in my #1 fabric, lol.
I think you did a great job. I vote for #1 too because I agree that 3 is too safe. Your room could feel too matchy and boring. The rug is very traditional, and I also like 1 because although it is a floral, it is a fresh updated print. It has the blend of elements that mean it won't go "out" of style like 2 and 4 (fade in and out of fashion - tropical and modern). I also think that you don't have to worry over the tones - the rug adds enough shades of camel back up through the pale golds to tie this chairs lovely lemony flowers to your color scheme. And, it adds some green tones that help you have fresh options when you want to pop accents in.
La-Z-Boy, I really like it, but haven't purchased it yet. We have a Flexsteel and, while the frame really has held up, I can't say the same about the cushions or upholstery. Good luck on the search
I like #l because it looks like your taste in print and has a touch gray, which you seem to like. I don't see you being happy with the stripe because it seems too repressed for you. I agree with SBK about getting a swatch of the fabric to see how the colors look in your home.
Personally, I like #1 because it is cheerful and calming. Which is odd because I'm not a big fan of yellow. However, it would look nice in winter and summer light.
