I know this thread should be about your favorite pet decor that is 'propped' all over your house. We've shared our photos, but please feel free to share again or more. Smile

My PP Puppy has put many little 'cheetah' p spots all over my rugs so i'll need to invest in a carpet cleaner soon. Or have plastic floors installed ! At least she's a 'non-shedding' dog. Big Grin

BUT... my favorite animal props are the fish, giraffes and elephants i have set up around the house. i like the 'live' art pieces more than the objet d' art vases these days. Smile

And my tourquoise Rooster, of course.

I have had brass giraffes too, I love them. I think yours look grand on your side table!

I currently do not have anything animal except for one b&w zebra pillow.

I have this inspiration photo saved to see if I can fit this into my living room. (this would be a prop since zebra is seen in all the magazines, and yes I am going for it!) No animals will be harmed in the making of my zebra print in my home!

Here is one great photo that my friend Judith (Judithva) took of her dog Toby, what a sweet dog he is! He poses for her sometimes... most of the time it is hard to get him still.

After reading wendek's post I forgot to mention the cheetah blanket and the doggie, that is two in one shot!

I really like animal decor of many types altho mine is not as sophisticated as yours Wendek. I like your animal props and remember your elephant table - I've always wanted one like that.

Mary Ruth, I love animal prints and must do something with a piece of leopard print I have.

I do have several animals and birds I use seasonally in whimsical arrangements and will post a few. One year when the Grands were younger I had fun with Scrabble tiles...

Bad hare day bunny guarding the M&M's...

My rooster lamp used to 'live' on my island years ago. None of this looks the same anymore as wall color and countertop are different and lamp is elsewhere in the room. I've posted this many times before.

Sometimes my live pets 'prop' themselves! The cats especially seem to know when I want to take pics and put themselves in the space. Sometimes I 'relocate' them to a closed room to keep them out of the way and other times I just let them be in the pic.

Here's my Maine Coon on the kitchen sideboard along with a fall arrangement using my rooster and hen. So one animate pet and 2 inanimate ones! Before I had cats I used to be quietly appalled when friends allowed their cats on kitchen surfaces. Now I understand how difficult/almost impossible they can be to train so I just wipe all surfaces before using since I never know when they've decided to visit one when I am out of the room. I don't use this sideboard for food anyhow.

Here's my orange tabby 'claiming' a new arrangement.

joyluck,
Oh how cute done with scrabble tiles! I love the 'froggie'!
I didn't think of it but I have some 'bird' things, but am going to Fort Lauderdale in the morning and won't have time to take pics, that will have to wait till Friday or so.

Bunnies are cute! Love the colors! Bad hare day is cute, bet it brings chuckles!

I like the colors matching with vegetables like the tomatoes.

Amazing how the Maine Coon cat's wiskers show up so well in the photo. He looks very happy watching what is going on. ha ha, I wipe down and wash the counters in the kitchen because I am not sure what my DH put on them! lol Does he count as a pet? lol Oh wait, DH's...that is topic for another thread! lol

The orange tabby has a nice profile.

Isn't that something how cats just walk right into the shot?

Here is a photo I found from my Va house in the dining room. In Nova Scotia they decorate with deer and moose figures and I found these at Fortunoff's when visiting my MIL one Thanksgiving holiday in Long Island. I like to display them at Christmastime. They are candelabras and I put small round candles on each of the antlers. I like the way the light is bright behind them in this photo.

Here are some birds under glass. They are ornaments I bought from Pier One just before Christmas one year. I put them on crystal candle holders as pedestals.

I had mercury glass birds I used on my table one Christmas when I made the coffee filter roses for the flower arrangement.

Silverplate trays, shells, moss and silk white carnations because I didn't have enough roses made yet.

I do love animal print although I don't have any in my home. Love that rug on the stairs.

Here is my prop. I will be taking pics and then notice a little furball in the pics. He loves having his pic taken I think. He has the run of the house. As you can see, he's got a really rough life.

Nope, not sad eyes, comfy cosy spoiled eyes. This pic was a couple of years ago. He's getting pretty old.

Everyones vignettes are very nice. I really enjoy doing vignettes, probably my favorite thing to do.

I've found also, that I really love birds, but i prefer the ceramic or glass kind rather than the sort that poop on things like my hair! (it's happened a couple of times)

You are so funny wendek!

We had birds in the house before, and the poops do get in all sorts of places! I love the quiet, still ceramic birds in the house too...and I watch them outside.

I have painted an old metal birdcage go become part of yard art or vignette. I have it on a table next to the sliders in my Den. I noticed yesterday that a female Cardinal (there is a pair that lives in a nearby tree) came to check out the cage! she was all over it. I will have to leave the large door open!

And this thread is for 'propped' decor not 'pooped' decor anyway! big chuckle....

Sure enjoyed the pics...isn't it funny how pets will 'incorporate' themselves into the decor?!? Twin cats I used to have would be in the middle of my latest tablescapes, etc. I would take a pic and then shoo them away!!! o)

I love everyone's animal props, this is fun. I like how the animal live or ceramic give a lively feeling to the room.
Being animated creatures ourselves, we like to see other things we know as animated, if that makes sense.

Joyluck - I have that same little rooster lamp Bought it a few years back and he does not currently "fit" anywhere. LOVE how you have yours displayed! We have so many "bird" items, I've lost count. Pictures and my grandma's old metal bird cage. DD painted it black and passed it to me when he downsized.

I have at least 10 different pieces of dog art - prints, vintage, metal, wood, ceramic, you name it! It would be hard for me to pick a favorite, though the two prints I have in guest bath are hard to beat "Sheltie in the Bath" and "Pomeranian in the Bath" by C.Lynch.

The sites are links to etsy just to show the prints. If you look at my guys, I'm sure you'll see why I liked the prints so much!

Thanks junk collector! Several years ago there were a number of people on this forum who had this identical lamp and several posted pics. Guess it was a popular "made in China" item at one time! LOL I still like mine altho am downsizing my rooster collection.

Cute pups and I can see why you like that art!

Oh connecting with nature is so part of our lives, I am so happy to see pets included in our interiors.

wendek, Yes I understand your idea of 'animated'. Life is here, no matter what we say or do, it IS here, so to honor life makes sense.

junk collector,
What sweeties! That photo is darling!

wallis,
You might have convinced me! I need to keep my hands busy and need to find an outlet! Will post when I decide what I will do. DH and I thought that after we finished my daughter and son's kitchens we would do crafts or make things (small) to sell for FUN.

Always,
I also miss not having any dogs around, but we will remedy that within a year or two... what blessings that pets provide... we still talk about and miss our Huskies!

They are firecrackers, that is certain! What else is certain is that black rugs and white dogs do not mix! Learned that one the hard way...

After reading and posting on this thread, I walked through the house and found even more birds than I could remember - mostly owls!

junk collector,
I know, I had two white (with gray at their back) Siberian Huskies who blew their coats! I had white tumbleweeds rolling on my floor, some got pretty large at coat-blowing season!

Kiska (an Alpha female)
would not be afraid of the vacuum or when I was cleaning, but would posture herself somewhere like this to watch with furniture between me and her. When I would finish, she would come over to me for attention.

This is a picture of them in our Virginia backyard. Grizzbear is the heavier shorter-legged strong type, a sled puller mentality, and Kiska was more sleek and fast, she was a flyer, talker and very smart. She anticipated our every move. What loving dogs they were, we enjoyed them for 6 years (we adopted them as adult dogs). Miss them so!
