Christmas Trees 2012
This is my tree for this year. We do an old fashioned tree with our collection of ornaments, some antique, BIG old fashioned colored lights and real tinsel (the metal kind).

So what does your tree (or trees) look like?

We only do the one . . . and put ALL of our ornaments on it!

Beautiful! I love tinsel on a tree! I remember when we were young, we put the tinsel on one piece at a time!

Love your tabescape with that beautiful tray! The blue really pulls the blues forward from that gorgeous tree!

I like a tree decorated so you see the tree as well as the decorations.

I visited your Blog and saw the tree there too. WONDERFUL! The photo pulls me in to feel like I am almost there... And I can just imagine the scents in your house with all that great cooking you do as well as the scents from that tree!

A REAL tree... I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

We have two trees, one large and one tabletop. This year we are enjoying only lights. We wanted only a glow, just for a change.

You are so sweet. Thank you! It's so dreary here in Oregon, with the fall/winter rain and gray, we really need our bedroom to feel warm and take away that chilly feel.

Majorly tree envy here!!

We decided to do a little table topper in the LR this year, instead of our big tree. We are not expecting company and not having a big bash like we did last year. It is lavishly decorated, which is a lot easier to do for a 4-foot tree than a 7-footer. Phew!

Enjoy your gorgeous trees, everyone.

Martha, beautiful tree. That is what my mom and dads always looked like. Dad and I had the tedious job f putting on the icicles, one by one.

Always nesting, your room looks so cozy.

Cathy, what a furry tree Wink. Beautiful tree and furbaby.

I do have to say, I love the blue theme but I am missing all of my reds too.

Lovely trees everyone! I particularly like Cathy's...but then I'm partial to trees with dogs in front of them.

I snapped this photo right after I put our tree up.

I decided it needed something under it, presents or something.

Strings -- we bought the tinsel years ago at a flea market -- ALL that they had so it's real vintage stuff (but guess from late 60s since the price was 59cents).

Always Nesting -- love your tree and what a pretty bedroom. I understand about lights -- there is something magical about the glow of the tree!

Catie -- The tree is pretty but thing the dog is prettier! He is a cutie!

VG -- your blue tree is stunning! Love the feathers -- love the angel!

Whitdobe -- your tree is pretty but I especially like what is UNDER the tree. I can't remember what kind of dog that is but I know it isn't a dobe!

Linderhof, your tree reminds me of ours when I was growing up. We always had tinsel on the tree and as Mary Ruth mentioned you laid the strands on the tree, you didn't dare throw it!

Love the pets by the trees. Yours too VG Smile.

Thanks for sharing. Love each and everyone!

When we had a dog, she wouldn't pose and let me get a photo of her that was good.

Hope the metal tinsel lasts you a long time.

When my parents' put it on their tree, the dog walking by swishing his tail, would take it off from his height down.

Just love seeing everyone's Christmas displays.

Always Nesting,
Aw what a cute special tree! And I too like your bedroom. Love the tartan throw at the bottom of the bed!

aychihuahua,
I hear you! I talked to my friend who lives in Virginia yesterday, she said she timed herself this year. 7 hrs for a 4' tree and 11 hrs for the 8' tree! she said it was 3 hrs for the lights alone! She said she had 6, yes 6 trees done in her large house placed in different rooms (she likes hers in front of the windows) and each with different themes she has collected over the years (some I was with her when she bought them).

Cathy,
Nice tree! Oh how cute furbaby looks too!

VG,
LOVE the colors on your tree, and the deer! I love how you tied in other elements in your room to coordinate.

Whitdobe,
Lovely tree and the dog is precious! What a handsome fellow he (she?) is! The bow just adds to the spirit of the holidays! Wonderful photography! (what a great xmas card photo!)

Linderhof,
The old tinsel was taken off as tenderly as put on, and we saved it for the next year to use again, the older it got, the more crinkly it was but still looked good. I still like the tarnished crinkle look of it as the tinsel ages.

Here is a photo of my suitcase santa as I call it. This one is portable and I can put away and take back out easily. Photo was taken in Virginia house, I am not setting him up this year, cannot access where he is. (photo taken with flash)

Here is a miniature bead tree that I got at Michael's I usually display this one in a guest room. I try and add to it each year. I have a small case full of things to add and change out and found a great light set for it. One of these days I will take it out and fill it.

If I remember correctly the dome is approx 10" high.

I LOVE miniatures, and they are too hard to work with for me now, so I appreciate them even more!

Thanks everyone!!

Jovi, my dog, is a little red Border Collie. Most folks are more familiar with black/white Border Collies but they do come in other colors.

Mary Ruth, I love your suitcase Santa!

Strings and anyone else who wonders how I pose Jovi in front of the tree, first I train her to sit on something. This year it was a footstool and I don't have a photo that shows the footstool but I'll put a photo of the chair I used last year. (She looks so "puppy" in the photo because she was!) :-)
Photobucket

Anyway, Jovi learns that she gets goodies if she sits up on the chair (footstool or whatever) so she's eager to jump up on it and earn her goodies. That serves several purposes. It lifts her "up" in front of the tree so the photo turns out better, it keeps her in one spot (on the chair/footstool) so she's not moving around and, since she's eager for a treat, it puts a good expression on her face!

This was our Christmas card this year.

Now I see the difference between REAL cameras and the $20 digital cam I bought! Oh well, here's my tree. I've started making cross stitch ornaments and this is the first year I've had enough to make a "statement". We used only blue, silver, and translucent or clear ornaments. I think it would have been better had I changed all the big lights to blue. I always bury little "twinkle" lights deep in the tree and put big lights on the outer branches. My daughter always makes a cranberry/popcorn garland. I had a grease fire in the kitchen when I tried to pop the kernels on the stove. I guess the kernels were so old that they didn't pop and I let the oil overheat??? Anyway, we will be using micowave popcorn from now on!!!!!

Whitdobe,
How special! And her coloring goes so well with your decor and the tree! Bonus!

Ah, Christmas card done! NICE!

Hello trish! Have a GREAT CHRISTMAS!

sms,
oh no, grease fire? That is not the right Christmas scent in the house! lol
I love the idea of the cross stitch ornaments, so quaint. My mother used to do cross-stitch panels that are like 3" X 4" for inserting in her Christmas cards, I still have two.
I will make something out of them someday.

Nitalynn,
Yes Christmas trees are personal to each home and unique family heirlooms.

Your tree is wonderful, I love the low lighting photo so you can see it lit. It looks like a happy tree. I also like the bead garland too.

I like the family room tree too, the beads are wonderful on this one too.
I like the different slim look of this one too. Very nice! Thanks for sharing!

So enjoyable to see everyone's pretty trees, as well as cute pups.

This year I did not put up my large tree as it's not prelit and I didn't feel like dealing with lights. Perhaps I will get a prelit one later. So instead of one large tree I have one 4' tree and 4 even smaller trees! Trying to keep it simple this year with a 'more-is-more' mentality was a struggle! LOL

Here is my 4' prelit white tree which is in my kitchen but can be seen from the LR. I have the 'makings' for green ornaments but haven't done them yet. Color scheme in the kitchen this year is red, blue, and green, with lots of white, silver, and some gold. I used many clear icicles and other glass decorations on the tree but they don't show in the pic.

These are 2 tiny trees in urns on either side of one of my loveseats in the LR:

This is another tiny tree with a musical bear:

The tiniest tree is on the windowsill of my half-round window.

Wishing everyone the Very Best of the Season however they celebrate!

Whitdobe-I need to steal the thread for just a minute to tell you how much I love Jovi! She's a beauty, and you can tell by her expression that she's SO smart! We lost our 16 year old Border at Thanksgiving and the hole that has left in our lives is tremendous.

I have trees in every room.
This is the large one in my family room.
My DM comes over and helps me as it goes together branch by branch and has over 120 ornaments that are light and motion and each one must be plugged individually into a light strand socket. It takes the 2 of us over 6 hours and we enjoy every minute.

Merry Christmas,
Candy

Wow you guys have put me to shame! beautiful trees!

No trees here yet. My kids will start arriving Sat. I told DIL I am waiting for her to help me. We have 7 cats and one is a new kitten. So I know what will happen. But before quests arrive, the cats will get set up in our master " suite"-bedroom, large bath and study. They will have to stay while there is company- we've found this works, no escapees when the door is not watched, or midnight visitors to guest rooms, and in this case- no Christmas tree climbers!

We'll only have the one tree this year, with all the family ornaments, and maybe next year MIss Emily(kitten) will be settled down enough that we can put up our regular trees.
